Ok, I feel the need to share the experience... so bear with me.
After leaving our home town at 3ish, my three friends and I proceeded to North Haven to pick up some childrens' (i.e. people friends with one of my friend's girlfriend... people I didn't know but rightly assumed were awesome). After much calling and additional people who randomly decided to come, we managed to fit 10 people into my one friend's van, normally a 7-person car (quote: "My car is SO unhappy. You know how you're supposed to go forward when you ease off the breaks? Yeah, we're rolling back").
After some Ivy Noodle, we proceeded to Toad's, a very nice little venue with lots
o' blinking lights. We talked to the merch guy for a bit (where I aquired the very rockin' OK Go tiger shirt). He was incredibly nice, even when I attempted to buy the signed guitar strap with a dollar and a promise of my "neverending love." Apparently, love "doesn't put food on the table." Ah well, twas worth a shot.
Apollo Sunshine came on first. They were quite good considering I was all over the place between friends rocking out and realizing there was something sticky on the stage (we were on stage left since there was a mad cluster of people in the middle. Two of my friends and i decided sitting on the stage edge allowed for multiple "we can lean over' opportunities. Though, later, we regretted not partying with the NOrth Haven kids in the middle because Damian had jumped off the stage and gone down the middle... oh well, we had a very nice spot anyway that allowed us to talk to some Controller, Controller/Apollo Sunshine peoples).
After Apollo Sunshine, we were chilling on the stage. I noticed some girls in the center turning my way and taking pictures of us on stage left. I was genuinely confused until my friend tapped my shoulder and was like "Damian was RIGHT THERE [indicates a sport two feet away]." I laughed about my many times that I've missed people right next to me. We also saw Tim pass by a number of times, all without actually talking to him. It was amusing anyway... like an OK Go safari of sorts. haha.
Controller, Controller came on. Though I don't think the crowd was as receptive, I actually really liked them (partially because the stage left guitarist was so cool. I attempted to trade my scarf for his hat. It turned out to be a gift, so no trade happened, though we took pics with them. All around very nice people). THough many missed it, the lead singer of C.C said something to the effect of, "we have two more songs... then All Right, Proceed." Awww, wit.
OK Go took a bit to set up and then had some tech difficulties, but they were no less awesome. My last show was Irving Plaza when Damian was sick, so I thought the energy at this show was a little bit better. They were, as always, a genuine pleasure to see and such a fun group to rock out to. Damian told a story about a little London boy who was unappreciative. They rocked the A Million Ways dance (my friend, the original fan, was a bit disappointed to see the lack of the "C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips" dance). In short, they rocked, we bobbed along, and it was all around awesome.
After, my friend and I attempted to find the band before we would get kicked out (sinceToad's becomes a 21+ bar after). We found a staricase behind the stage and bolted for it, thinking we were oh so clever. However, it turned out that was where the bathrooms and coat check were. Hahah, it was still and adventure, so I won't complain.
We didn't get to meet the band, but that's alright since the music totally makes up for it.
So, yes, if you've read this far, congrats, and I'll leave you with this gem from the ride home:
[discussing the Bible] "The main character DIES!" "NO! You gave away the ending!"
And now, for le pictures (they are all blurry because I am firmly anti-flash at concerts.. and there are many Tim and a lack of Rusty and Dan due to where we were sitting.)
Apollo Sunshine! Hooray for the synth! Keyboards in any way, shape, or form make me so happy
Ok, that large blakc shape is the guitarist from Controller. Controller. I was personally a fan of the red light because it made my pics look artsy, albeit somewhat difficult to tell what's what.
More red shapes!
Teh drum de OK Go.
Tim and Damian mellowly rockin' (blue makes everything automatically mellow).
Bald IS beautiful
Damian bathed in light (I just really like the term "bathed in light.")
I have only video of the dance (I was determined this time to actually watch it rather than trying to take pics. The goal of this was APPRECIATE LIVE. I tend to get caught up in pics).
All in all, for my second OK Go concert experience... A+
Hope everyone who went had a rockin' time as well!
Love

Very rock star.
The return of the red.
Smoke is just automatically cool.
Still rockin'
After escaping downstairs and thinking we were so clever, my friend and i amused ourselves by looking at Toad's wall, which, we assumed, was filled with people who had played there. My personal fav?:
YEAH MEATLOAF! (that man is awesome, I don't care what you say.)
I have this thing where I can't look normal in pictures because I don't like the way I look normally, so I do this abnormal pout so that way I know why I look bad in the pic. Me with the C.C. peoples. See? Doesn't he have an awesome hat? SEE?????!!?!???!?
And of course, OK Go looked great.
*needs to post her own pics..*
Though,unforunate about the technical difficulties.
And,it's always amusing to see Damian literally forget whole verses at a time(like at the beginning of a good idea at the time),poor guy,heh
I thought apollo sunshine were really great,I've seen them a few times before, and if anything they were better than the last time.
Really nice guys, too. After the show I had the chance to meet them, and they were incredibly nice.the boys & I.
I thought controller, controller wer okay. I didn't think they were spectacular, but I thought they were good. And,tonetoile, I totally noticed when the guitar player said "all right, proceed" heh,fun bunch of musicians. the band (minus the drummer & guitarist to the right of the stage) & I.
Since I'm trying to keep this short,I'll baisically summarize my meeting with okgo pretty fast.
So,these girls I had met at the show, and my friend and I were looking all around Toad's for okgo, but they were nowhere to be found. Considering,we did have to try and keep a low profile the whole time since we were all under 21 and we were still in there for quite the while after the show trying to find the boys.
So we finally went outside and figured we'd ask the roadies about it.
They said they'd be out in a bit,so we decided to wait.
Well,I got bored, and found the fact that their van was right there amusing, and took a picture in front of it - the okgo van & I,heh. the flash was off on my camera,so I lightened up the van quite a bit on photoshop, hence the weird coloring.
Okay,so back to point! After about 45 minutes or so of waiting outside, tim came outside. In the next twenty minutes/half hour or so Damian,Dan,and Andy followed. They were incredibly nice and down to earth just like the last time when I met them, and it was fun just to talk to them.
damian & I
Dan & I
Andy & I
I would post my picture with tim,but even though I look horrible in all those pictures I posted above,I look ten times worse there.Wooky, the new guitar tech made me laugh right when the picture was taken and it's just not a pretty sight,Tim looks immensly cool as always, heh.
I almost forgot,pictures from the gig! -
I was to the left of the stage,so most of my pictures are of tim and dan since my chances of actually being able to see andy from where I was were close to none.
well, that was way longer than I expected it to be,sorry!
in short,another fantastic show.
LOL. No one ever say like that. Tonetoile, you're unique and creative.
And thanks for your nice review, I enjoyed it a lot.
You're pictures are very awesome and I'm glad to hear you had a good time as well. Ha, I laughed when Damian forgot Television, Television lyrics. It was so damn cute.
I'm looking forward ot the next Connecticut-area OK Go excursion, whenever that may be. Goddamnit, they're such a fun band. I particurally enjoyed Damian's story about the London boy on the Tube. hahaha.
J'adore your shirt.
