Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers

yeah, so it's a dumb name, but a really great band.

They formed from the ashes of the Refreshments which some of you might have actually heard of. They had a hit song circa 1996, Banditos:

"Give your ID card to the border guard,
now your alias says you're Cpt. Jean-Luc Picard
of the United Federation of Planets,
cause he won't speak English anyway.

Everybody knows
that the world is full of stupid people,
so meet me at the mission at midnight
we'll divvy up there"

Good stuff. They broke up after their second album, but the front man and the drummer formed a new band and they're really great. They're perhaps not as good as the Refreshments, but they're still stellar. And they are SPECTACULAR live. I can't describe it. I follow them all over the country, and even out of it!!! I live in Little Rock Arkansas, and my first show was in Rocky Point Mexico. Now I had tickets to go see them a month later in Oklahoma City, but I decided on a whim, on tuesday, that I was going to go to Mexico that Saturday. Wow! Best time of my life. I just discovered them about April of last year and I've seen them in:

1. Rocky Point 5/06
2. Oklahoma City 6/06
3. Austin, TX 6/06 (2 weeks later)
4. Tulsa OK 4/07
5. OKC again 4/07
6. Austin again 4/07 (all 3 the same weekend, I was a regular groupie!! laugh.gif )
7. Rocky Point 5/07

I'm going to Austin for a 3rd time weekend after next and then just a month later I'm seeing them in Vegas on Labor Day weekend.

So yeah, my life's a little bit different now that I've met this band (oh yeah, they hang out after the show too and talk to you and sign stuff!).

Plus i kinda met a boy, who's giving me fits right now because he doesn't think... and he lives really far away so yeah, that's not gonna work, but dammit I want it to.
He's coming to Vegas with me biggrin.gif

but I digress. I recommend getting the Refreshment's first album "Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy." buy it, and BLAST IT. you'll be hooked!
