big thank yous to Grant Park people

edited November -1 in OK Go
I wanted to thank the people near the front who shielded my daughter from the mosh pit and helped us get her out when it began to spin out of control. I also wanted to hug the poor dear who got burned by that obnoxious drunk dude yelling at Damian.

Thanks for letting us be near you all night. We did finish out the concert farther back, at a safe distance.

Okgo's performance was AWESOME! Dan talked to my kids through the fence beforehand and Damian waved to them. It was a concert of a lifetime for them. My daughter took a few pictures with her phone of Andy...he's her favorite. My son was totally freaking out once the mosh got to the point where it took my husband to turn around and shove back, that's when we grabbed the kids and moved back out of the front.

I've been to plenty of dangerous punk shows...even had my earrings ripped out in a mosh pit once, however, I didn't really expect to need my old, steel-toed, combat boots at an Okgo concert.

Anyway, it was pretty cool with the exception of a few dorks. We are eternally grateful and thankful that we met some nice, cool people who helped make our experience better. I'm certain they are boardies as they were very nice. Thank you, thank you , thank you.

*hugs*

  • Aww, that's sweet. I didn't see any kids over where I was. I was right up against the fence though.

And I agree, I would totally expect some extreme moshing at a hardcore punk band's concert or something along those lines, but I didn't really expect it there and thought it got a little out of control. They broke the fence for pete's sake! Crazy! I personally don't understand moshing. There's probably a lot of people that enjoy it, but I just don't see the point. Can't you just dance and rock out without shoving everybody around? My arm muscles still hurt a little bit from trying to keep the fence in place and not falling down on top of it myself when it lunged forward from all the pressure people were putting on it. I was scared it was going to completely topple down

Oh that was me who shielded your daughter up front and you are totally welcome!

I have gone to three OK Go concerts and this one was the only one that went out of control. It makes me so mad especially since this was a school event. But other than the jerks, it was super awesome!! They are sooo amazing live!
  • I have been where you are too hungry. My 9 year old is a huge Tim fan and took her to Pepperdine last year. We too where in the front and it got crazy but a bunch of us just pushed back lol. She also got to meet her hero and the rest of the guys. She loved talking to Dan. She asked him why he gets hurt all the time it was cute. He said cause hes clumsy. She also made Tim turn red when she mentioned the Tim Gone Wild Video on You Tube.

Haha yea, I was the one that got burnt by the idiot who decided to light up right next to a couple of kids. Thanks so much hun. You were so awesome! My friends and I kept telling everyone how this kick ass mama bear yelled at the guy who got me with his ciggie. It is fine though, no scars or puss patches. Hey, anything for good rock, right? happy.gif I am just glad that your kids got out safe and sound and that they had a great time!

People did get pretty obnoxious, but it probably had something to do with Liberal Art students not being able to hold their drink well. You would think that they could just chill out and enjoy the good music, but I suppose everyone has a different way of celebrating haha.

Any-who, the concert was fantastic and Ok Go rocked the hell out of Columbia. I could not have been happier with the performance and I am definitely gonna pick up tickets when they swing back this way. Thanks a bunch!

Keep rocking it Ok Go! laugh.gif

LOL! My kids asked Dan about the "hips don't lie" prank with the Fray!! They were laughing hysterically when they came back to tell us that he enjoyed it, although it was slightly embarrassing.

Girls! I am so glad to have found you on here. Thank you so much. I just can't even begin to express my appreciation. Thanks for being so cool.
  • awww, cute. smile.gif
