PSST, don't take it literally! Mike and I are leaving in like 5 minutes to go find some kosher pareve (can't spell it, but Mike can pronounce it ) strawberry (or other fruity flavor) candy belts. I hope we can find kosher... there's kosher candy, right?
I told Tim that the candy, when rolled out, could be a belt. I think I may have actually said, "Eat the belts, not each other. Just say no to cannibalism." Wise words, always. I forgot to point out that I wasn't sure if the candy was kosher (we thought it might be though), and I didn't find my favorite brand of belts, but oh well. He seemed surprised that someone listened to the audblog and responded accordingly, so that was awesome.
As for the show, woo! From our court in the over 21 section we witnessed all, from the girl sneaking half an alcoholic drink to her friend to the two teens smoking weed in front of us. Anyone ever hear what happened to them after they were escorted out? It's not like it was a big crowd (sigh) so they really wouldn't have gotten away with it. Funny, yet tragic. Mike did indeed protect me, setsumi.
So yes, very sparse turnout, but that's what you get with no promotion. There would have been more people if someone rented a burro and walked it around the university with a promo blanket draped over it. But on the upside, it allowed for much better viewage of the band, which is always wonderful. It sounded like there was a gal who was staying at the hotel part of the Congress building that wandered down to see what was going on and ended up loving the music. How cool is that?!
The opening band sucked worse than a cheap hooker. The less said, the better. But it is possible that they helped OK Go look excellent by being so bad themselves.
As for OK Go, the new songs were great, the old songs were great, the whole band was great. Rusty was having some equipment trouble (the keyboard that only works after you say it's broken) and some guitar strings were broken in the name of rock. If the object of the show was to make me want the new CD like 5 months ago, it worked. Also, the guys were rather dressed up and dapper, not that they don't usually look good. Looked good, sounded good.
But the special treats? During a broken guitar string interlude, Damian and Tim did Les Miz. And, I believe as all or part of the encore (don't ask me, this blew my mind)... we got the Chic-a-go-go dance. And it was amazing. It's not like I've never seen it before, but it was really too cool for words being able to see it at my level about 6 feet away.
Tim says that OK Go will come back to Tucson, and they'd better. I'll hold him to it.
I'm glad Tim was surprised, because if they actually became indignant that more people had not complied with their ridiculous requests, I was going to have no choice but to believe OK Go had totally lost it. Good to know they haven't.
I too was shocked when I heard the new album wasn't coming out until July! Shocked and upset, I wish I could fast-forward through time. ha ha. But hopeully they'll come around again before then.

THE NEW SONGS ARE ABSOLUTELY WONDERFULLLLLLLL. i can not wait for the new album. ah im still in shock. ill post pics later

haha yeah i felt weird. and i wouldve taken it w/o flash, but when i do that, my camera does that thing were the shutter opens for a long time beause there's no light. although i did get some cool pictures that way.
OK, I'm at work, but I'll keep it short and sweet - those are some nice pictures. I was totally thinking, "I bet one of these people is going to get a picture and I'm going to be in it inadvertantly." And yes, that did happen - I'm in two of your pictures during Chic, Spongie. We were behind you in line, but I didn't want to disturb you and your friends.
I gave a guy resembling Rusty a big smile, so here's hoping I didn't give a random stranger a not-so-toothy grin. Well, I guess he is a random stranger. If the concert hadn't started so late, I would have let Damian know how rockin' the new songs are, but man, Mike and I had work next morning and I just wanted to blow that joint and get some sleep. I just wanted to tell everyone how rockin' I thought the new CD would be, but I can wait until next time when I'll tell them how rockin' the new CD *is* because it'll be out by then.
