I have a thing about concerts...I never go to shows with more than one opening act. However, considering I first heard of OK Go when they openend for They Might Be Giants, I made the drive to Toledo to see the OK Go show.
My view on opening acts hasn't changed, mainly because the bands in Toledo weren't that great (The Highgears were fine but out of place, 3-2-1 Contact needs another six months of heavy rehearsals before they'll be ready to play live, and The Sun were decent enough, but I was burnt out by then). The real problem with three opening acts, though, is that lead act gets cut short. I swear OK Go did a longer set when they opened for TMBG than they did as the headliner last night. I know a lot of this is up to the club, but OK Go gave us right around 45 minutes. Not NEARLY enough from these guys.
On the other hand, their set was solid, the band was tight and the new songs are fantastic. The crowd was small, but up for it. Having only seen the band that once, I'd forgotten how much fun they are live. Hopefully, their next album (current word, I'm told, is a July 19th release date) will get them the attention they deserve and they'll be able to draw enough fans that they won't need the padding of local acts and they'll be able to play longer sets.
Toledo is only little more than an hour drive away from metro-Detroit, so I had always said I would go see OK Go if they ever played there. Unfortunately I had to work and couldn't afford to get out of it...

Thanks for sharing and letting me know what I missed. That's weird about 3 opening acts, but I don't think that's normal for their shows. At least you still got to see them and enjoyed their set.
Has OK Go played in Toledo before? And what songs did they play? Anyone know the setlist?

This was the first time they played in Toledo.. I believe Damian told me the band had never even been there before either. I scanned in my setlist...
So you went to Toledo, OH, and you're from Milwaukee, WI?
Thanks for the setlist pic. I'm pretty sure it looks almost exactly like the setlist from Ann Arbor, MI (not minding typos). Sixteen listed songs, but did OK Go perform the Les Mis skit and/or the boy-band dance to C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips for encore?
I think to post a pic, you just need your link and use the "IMG" code button.

Yes, my friends and I really love OK GO. We saw them earlier in the year in Chicago, and we drove all the way to Ohio for the Toledo and Napoleon, OH shows (it was our Spring Break). They didn't do the Les Mis skit at either show, but they did do Cinnamon Lips. The setlists were exactly the same (I believe) for all three shows that I went to.
Oh yeah, on the Toledo date, they didn't do Return. Damian told me they just weren't feeling it, so they skipped it. Everything else is correct though.

The setlist was the same in Cleveland as well... but they ALWAYS have the same setlist.

I wish I would have went to the Cleveland show... my friend had to work on Monday night though, but three shows in a row would have been awesome
