5.27.05 Montreal Show @ Club Soda

edited November -1 in OK Go
This show was amazing. I just got home from my trip, so I'm pretty tired...but once I wake up from what will hopefully be a nice long nap, I'll be sure to post pics and tell all about it biggrin.gif

And once Pam gets home from her trip(lucky her, she's seeing them 3 more times!) she'll post the video and all that jazz.

  • Let's just say that I've worn out my batteries on my camera watching the video! It's just so beautiful. Look for it here on Monday smile.gif
  • This whole show was quite an experience.

First off, Club Soda was in the complete slums of Montreal. We were surrounded by homeless people begging and then harrassing us for money, sex clubs and I suspect that this one girl who kept walking by was a prostitute. But hey, I'll endure it all to see OK Go in concert. Also, I would like to thank the band, because if it wasn't for their concert in said area of Montreal, I wouldn't have stumbled across the tattoo parlor that I did and I wouldn't have a pierced nose today. So thanks guys!

The club was big. Especially compared to any venue I've seen our boys play at. I claimed my spot right up front, drank my beer(I love being legal in Canada) and waited for the boys to come out.

They did, they played an awesome set(including a new new song that I'd never heard of, "Disaster"), and then they danced. And they danced their hearts out. I swear, they never cease to amaze. If you're going to one of thier upcoming shows and someone posts a video of the dance on the board, don't watch it. Let it be a surprise. Because it's a fantastic surprise.

Once their set was over, my friends and I went and hung out near their merch table. We talked to Mike for awhile and then, about halfway through the Kaiser Chiefs, the boys come out to mix and mingle. Ok...so enough babbling, here's the link to some ultra cool pictures that I took of the concert and of meeting the guys afterwards.

I can honestly say that I'd never actually met and talked to them before, and I totally regret that. They might be some of the nicest guys. And really, if you don't love Dan, you're crazy! lol.

  • I think Carin pretty much summed up everything that there is to say about the show, it was just amazing.

I absolutely, whole-heartedly agree. But for those of you who have already seen it, or who won't be able to make it to a show, I did tape it. The only problem is, the file is WAY too big (71 MB), and it keeps timing out on yousendit.com. Does anyone know how to make the file smaller or have another way of helping me get this to you all?

I've got some pictures up too from both the Montreal and Toronto shows. I'll be going to the Chicago show and hopefully the Minneapolis one, so check back later to see more pictures.

  • The show was great, bitchin' new dance moves but I gotta say that the Cafe Campus show in April was better. Love how Damian gave a shout out to us 6 people who were in attendance! :-)

Kaiser Chiefs left me indifferent. Guess going onstage after the Ok Go-ers is a hard act to follow.

Would you be talkin' bout this new ditty:

    "Disaster"

Bitchin' new tune. Is it part of the tracklist for the new album? I wonder.

Wish I could download that video file but i'm still on dial-up (ol' schoolin' it).
  • You always come through with the new songs! Thank you for that!

Pam and I looked for you at that concert, but we didn't really know what you looked like. Were you, by any chance, standing on the left side of the stage and wearing a black shirt?
  • More like on the right side of the venue. Sat a table. To lazy to stand up for two hours straight. :-) light blue golf shirt I was sporting. Talked to this dude who was doing a story on the Kaiser's for GQ mag. I have a feeling the OK guys will get a mention aswell.
  • Haha...yeah, I was right up front on the right side, dancing and singing and taking tons of pictures.

Here's hoping to boys get mentioned, they deserve it biggrin.gif
