i havent heard much about him

i just know he's german

and his name will be benedict the XVI

    I think I should be more excited then I am about this development, seeing as how I am Roman Catholic. But really, I'm not. lol.

    I caught it on the news on the way into the dining hall. I'm glad we have someone to oversee the religion.

    Is it not wrong to have a non-elected individual seen as more divine than the average mortal man? What makes the pope so special? I say socialism all the way!... oh wait, this is becoming politics huh.gif

    has decided that he is going to refuse sending condoms to africa because "the traditional teaching of the church has proven to be the only failsafe way to prevent the spread of hiv/aids"

    if he thinks sending condoms would be ruining the catholic moral, he should AT LEAST send like, a band of teachers to educate people about abstinence

    SO do you think the new pope or just christianity/catholicism is too conservative in general?

    I jus find it extremely difficult to believe in Christianity as a religion, i am not saying that there is not a god of some kind, or a higher power. But the Bible in my opinion has more holes in it than facts and the whole creation of the world is pretty floored.

    The church of england was set up so as Henry VIII could Divorce his wife, i am very sorry but if were 'God' i would extremely angry that people go to Church of England churches when it was only created to solve one man's problem. And as for woman priests and homosexuals in the church, God is gunna be pretty vengeful. If religion is a set of rules, then they should be followed regardless of the modern world.

    Religion has been used as a weapon ever since it was thought up. It is all theory, and therefore could be wrong. Why else did every king accross Europe say that their position was appointed by God? To scare the ignorant people they ruled into fighting battles, paying taxes and to avoid revolt.

    I could go on for hours the arguements against christianity, and people go on equally with for arguements. Catholic, protestant, evanglical, jehovas witness etc... There are hundreds. Which one is right? Each one has its own Principles and way of going about things.

    But if i am wrong, please forgive me

    That's true. He was forced into the Hitler Youth and then I guess he was forced out for being un-Nazi.

    ya lots of people in germany were forced to be hitler youth. its sad. i know a guy who had to be in it, he said that they would basically be brainwashed to turn in their parents if they did anything that would help the jews or was "un nazi like" sad stuff = /

    pretty much religion and Belief is for those who need the comfort of belief in a higher power/ of being superior then somehting else, and not jsut somehting small and unimportant. It's a good thing in and of itself, but the problem is that while it brings a group of people together, it seperates otehrs, causing conflicts.Hence the Crusades, cross burning, KKK, Nazi Germany(not through a church but through the "Aryan" supremacy thing).


    Honestly if Jesus was real(which i doubt,since there is no record of him being put on the cross, and the Romans loved their records), I think he would be ashamed at what people do in his and God's name.

    me?I'm leaning more towards polytheism, it sounds more right>.>

    Also, i believe that there probably is some all powerful being, but I believe he/she/it is so vast we cannot comprehend it, and so powerful we are not worth the attention, and are probably only by-products of smaller and smaller creations left to multiply by a bored creator.

    Me>.>, I've already figured out that no matter what I do, i most likely am not going to be so important that I affect the entire cosmos on such an epic scale that even after my body turns to dust my name will echo throughout the universe.(not on a human level like Shakespeare or OkGo will always be remembered by Humans, i mean like older then the boens fo the Earth kind of thing)
