OK GO @ The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto Nov 7th
ANOTHER AMAZING SHOW...w00t!
Matt, a bunch of his friends, myself, my bf and friend av and Rachel were lucky enough to attend Monday night's show at the Horsehoe! I shall start off with the CRAP that was the opening band!
Matt and his boys, Rachel and I were at the Edge studios at around 6:30 to see Tim and Damian before doing a radio interview. Before them were these 2 guys that were absolute no names which is all good! NEHOO they turned out to be the opening band known as The Populars! So here I am thinking...if they get to open for OKGO they have to be good...right? WRONG!
nehoo Tim and Damian were super cool as always at the edge as well as hilarious!
But back to this opening band...my god - I spoke to the bassist before the show and he seemed chill enough so i bought their cd with high hopes! OH and how those hopes were crushed! It was like every early 90s sterotype/emo (but like bad emo if there is a such a thing) i hate politics and the world lyrics/ legs spread wAAAAAAAY to far apart while rocking it etc! A few songs were good but it looked as if they were trying to be WAY TOO HARDCORE and crazy Vines like! It failed! They used the phrase "you;re da bomb" repeatedly in one song!
I felt bad .... truly i did bc I REALLY DID WANT TO LIKE THEM! I have sinced listened to the CD at home and they are a much better recorded band than they are live...so there is hope!
As for the OK GO SHOW - kick ass! They played the following

I have to say they looked squished considering how much room the keyboard took up on the Horsehoe's UBER TINY stage! regardless of the lack of space they rocked out HARD and continued to impress me as always...

I am so glad that I now have an ID as it can easily give me access to ok go. the entire night was inexplicably amazing. thanks everyone for letting me hang around with you so I wouldn't be by myself! hope to see everyone soon

But OK Go! Best Toronto show this year, no question!
