Pontiac commercial

edited November -1 in OK Go
My friend told me that there is an OK Go song in a Pontiac commercial for the new Grand Prix.
I personally have not seen the commercial yet so I don't know which song it was, but it is definitely them.
I'm sure someone else has seen the commercial and would love to fill the rest of us in.

Note: There are no little girls running around in school or young boys playing video games while the band plays in the background...
Sorry to disappoint...
Hahah.

  • i hadn't actually seen it, but i googled it and voila!

    Pontiac Grand Prix commercial

-- DWYW seems to be a huge hit with marketing people
  • probally due to it rocking

most more proberly due to it being cheaper then mainstream songs to use
  • Yep...it's very true...I've only seen it once though and I figured that someone else had already done a topic on it that I didn't bother to tell anyone that I had seen it. I've been seeing the JC Penny ones like crazy though.

  • As much as I'm resisting the urge to be all, "DON'T BECOME TOO POPULAR BECAUSE THEN I WON'T BE ABLE TO GO TO SMALL SHOWS," this has got to be soooooooo good for the guys in terms of finances.

    Agreed'd on both accounts.
  • It also starts when you go to this site: Pontiac Garage, and has a nice little band/song/album credit visible. smile.gif

Unfortunately, you can't seem to access their performance at the Chicago auto show anymore. Back in March or so, Q101 had links to audio for a bunch of songs they did there, and also some video (rather lamely, the video wasn't set to anything they were playing--it was a bunch of the performance cut together and backed with the studio version of "Get Over It," which I thought was stupid; if they--whether it was Q101 or Pontiac, I don't know--were going to do something that lame, they could have at least used their single at the time as the music ... but anyway). I thought those had been links that went to the Pontiac Garage site. But maybe I was wrong. I'll dig around the Q101 site again and see if they're hidden away anywhere ...

It was cool; it had Damian talking between songs. I remember him talking about being surrounded by cars; and after playing "Get Over It," he said, "I almost said the name of another car company .... Ooh." Like close call. lol (He'd changed "Cadillac" to "Pontiac" in the song.) I wish I'd gone to this.

    Off I go to dig.
  • Woo! It's still there. It's actually under the Featured Stuff part of the New Music page on Q101, second from the bottom of what shows up automatically, which is cool considering it's old (Feb.); and guess what's second from the top! HIGA smile.gif

Anyway, here's the link to the auto show stuff: eight songs, that video I was talking about, which isn't quite as lame as I remembered it (they at least matched up the song pretty well), and some pictures. Songs:
*Don't Ask Me, with crystal clear tambourine, lol, and "Don't waste my frickin' time"
    *No Sign of Life
    *HIGA
*Get Over It, with "Pontiac" part and D (& maybe T?) laughing right after
*Oh Lately, with D. at beginning about above-mentioned near-mishap, and Happy Valentine's
    *Invincible
    *Do What You Want
*A Million Ways, which is just the record while they're doing the dance, which seems like it would be stupid to have up, but it's fun to hear the cheers as it goes along. And it's at the beginning of this that D. talks about the cars. And, having listened to this again, I think it's really funny because at the Woodfield Mall show, in addition to the hardcore (lol) shoestrings w/their names that I gave the guys, I gave Damian a pack of those little colored foam pellets that blow up into shapes when you pour water on them--the transportation themed pack. A bunch of them were cars. I got it because I'd just listened to the podcasts for the first time in awhile and the part on the first one where D. asks Tim if he's asked for any automobiles in his audioblogs was fresh in my mind. Afterward, I kinda thought it was a lame thing to give since it referred to a joke at least a year old, even though I explained why I was giving them. But hearing this again, with him pining away for cars, I realize I knew in the back of my mind that it was an ongoing theme. Ha. biggrin.gif That doesn't mean he remembered talking about cars multiple times, but oh well. He took them. lol

And to avoid other things I should be doing, I took some screen caps from the video. Just to be artsy. I think they're kinda cool. So here they are:

  • I really like how when you watch some of the videos where the band does the dance in different places they add little flairs and the people that know the dance due to watching it so freaking many times are just like oh thats cute i like that or oooo hmm maybe next time we'll add that. Next time my friends and i perform the dance (which will be next July, annually) we might add some of our own little ideas in there hmmm oh how I love these men.
