Disappointed ... with CD

edited November -1 in OK Go
I was so impressed by the song "Get over it" that I bought the CD .. this doesn't happen too often !! I bought the disc from Amazon and and put it into my PC so that I could load it to my Creative Zen Vision M (MP3) player. Can you imagine how annoyed I was when I discovered that I could NOT load it onto my MP3 player due to some copy protection software installed on the CD ?!!
How can I get this music onto my MP3 player ? I bought the disc because I wanted to listen to the music ... but I can't.

Where from ? Do I have to pay for this music AGAIN ... I already paid for the CD !!
I would welcome any ideas of where I can download it from ... sorry, I am a bit of a novice at downloading music !! So any advice would be appreciated.

  • Okay, I was just assuming you had file-sharing software like Limewire or Ares..I'm sure somebody here can just upload it for you, wait a little while till the boards are busier. I would, but I always mess it up.
  • That's odd, I had the same player and it worked for me.

It sounds like maybe later pressings of the album (since he bought it pretty recently) have that added thing that Damian wrote the article about and I can never remember the name of..

    Hi there,
when I try to play the CD on my PC a small media player appears on screen which says "Powered by MidBar Tech Ltd" .. I guess this is the CD protection thing that is stopping me enjoying the music that I bought - this has certainly put me off buying legitimate CDs .... so doesn't that sort of encourage file sharing ?!!

Due to the rules of my internet provider I am not able to access any file sharing sites .... anybody got any suggestions on to how I can get the music that I paid for onto my MP3 player ?!!

I should say, my internet provider doesn't allow this "File sharing" stuff either...but they haven't stopped me yet, muahaha. mellow.gif

Technically, as long as you have a legit copy of the cd that you paid for, you can't get in trouble for DL stuff.

Also, try importing the cd with itunes(it's free), it'll give you an option to copy the files to your computer in m4a or mp3 formats, which you can just drag and drop to your mp3 player's file directory.

That's a good point, a lot of people don't realise that you don't have to import songs using the iTunes format. In fact, it makes things a lot easier if you don't.

    "Buy, Play, Trade, Repeat" anyone?

Does Damian know about this? I bet he'd throw a shit fit....I would, too....
  • There is a way to get around the copy protection stuff... dunno how to do it.

    Yeah, I'm helpful.
