Does anybody have any information about the free OK Go/Pontiac Garage concert that is supposedly being held in the Pioneer High School parking lot this weekend? Like what time is the concert and do we need to secure tickets in advance or is it just a free outdoor show? That parking lot is normally used for game parking and this Saturday is the MSU/UofM game, so I'm wondering how in the heck the fans are going to get anywhere near the school on this particular date. I'm not really interested in watching MSU lose AGAIN after we lost homecoming, so I was only planning to drive to Ann Arbor to see some boys that I know will get the job done. But I do think that showing up at the right time and knowing where to park would be pretty essential to this mission. The Pontiac Garage Web site is as useless as ever -- no information on upcoming events -- just a bunch of car ads and free downloadable music from ages ago. At least they have OK Go music playing in the background.

No shit...I hadn't even thought of that. There's no way anyone can park anywhere near Pioneer on a game day, at least not without paying about $20 and possibly being stuck in a parking lot until after the game. Although the game's late (4:30pm), so if the show is early enough you might be able to make a deal with one of the people selling backyard parking, since they'll be able to resell your spot.
Crazy that OK Go is playing in my high school parking lot. Sad that I won't be there. My boyfriend was going to go, but once he finds out it's a game day he'll probably want to steer clear.
LOL! I thought the infamy of losing to Notre Dame after we kicked their asses up and down the field for three quarters was as bad as it would get this season but losing to Illinois? During homecoming? Aaarrgghghgh. I was sooooooo looking forward to seeing our boys in action and then watching the Spartans mop the floor with the Wolverines (yeah, I'm a dreamer) - oh well, seeing our boys in action is reason enuff to make the trip...
(I don't follow college football . . . )
I don't mind walking. It's Ann Arbor, lots to do while walking about that town.
Apparently the concert starts at 1:30 p.m. on the school front lawn, no ticket required. The lot opens at 6 a.m. for parking, but usually fills up around noon on game days. Parking there is $30 (wow, that's more than usual, but at least it is cheaper than tickets would have been). Anwyay, there are plenty of cheaper parking options within walking distance. My boyfriend and I are planning to get there early and tailgate until the band plays, so if any OK Go fans wanna join us, bring your cooler and barge right in. Look for the tan Bonneville with homemade-looking OK Go banners.

How about a shout out from someone who made it to the concert? Set list? Birthday celebration? Crowd reaction? Sartorial malfunctions? Inquiring minds want to know!
For the UofM/State game, a vendor was giving away these little soft footballs. When OK Go first walked onstage, people started tossing these footballs at them and I wondered if it was going to be distracting. But the guys (esp. Damian) had such a great time whipping them back at the audience. Damian even made his arms into a sideways hoop and asked people to throw the footballs through. He got totally PELTED with footballs and only ONE made it through the hoop!
The best part was the "Million Ways" dance at the end. The footballs were flying at them by this time and the band was just lovin' it! They kept dancing, but also catching the footballs and throwing them back. They were so playful and seemed to be having such a great time themselves! I hope someone was videotaping and puts it on YouTube because it was hilarious!!
I took some pictures and videos of some parts of the day with my crappy little cell phone, so if anyone wants to see my horrible visual skills, go ahead. It was pretty sunny too, so the lighting was bad.

I particularly enjoyed their rendition of ELO's "Don't bring me down"
