That's right, OK Go, those crazy treadmill guys, will cover 'Gigantic' for the Dig For Fire CD.
As I've mentioned before, They Might Be Giants are one of my favorites, and having them on this project was a no-brainer. The hardest thing about getting them on board was just getting some contact info. After some time of searching, I was able to get their manager's contact information, and I emailed him.
A few hours later, he emails me back to say TMBG are very interested, but would I also consider OK Go for this project, as they are the biggest Pixies fans he knows?
I admit, for the thousands of CDs I own, and the thousands upon thousands of mp3s as well, I really live in a small music universe... you know, the 80's new wave, 90's old alternative, 00's indie universe. My knowledge of OK Go was limited to the video (brilliant), and that they were an 'it' band right now, with a lot of buzz and press. I picked up the CD, and I am glad I did... most of the time, when bands get this kind of publicity, there might be 1 or 2 songs that carry the entire CD, but listening to every track, I am pleasantly surprised to say OK Go are a good band, and I am happy to have them on board.
'Gigantic' was originally reserved for someone else, but new album and touring commitments prevented them from being involved in this. When that happened, OK Go jumped, and I KNOW they will do a great version of that song. And for those of you who wonder what other band could have covered 'Gigantic', I am sure you could figure it out if you've been paying attention. I am not going to say anything else on that, because we MIGHT have a super-secret bonus track featuring this band/artist.
Gigantic.

I don't know how many other Pixies fans are on here, but I have been very much looking forward to "Dig For Fire". They've been revealing information about one cover at a time on Myspace for a few weeks now, and this is gearing up to be a great tribute album. I can't wait to hear what the guys do with "Gigantic"!

I remember there was a post about the album and the participating bands. And I know that their involvement in the project is pretty much old news.
I just wanted to share my excitement over the song choice, since that was posted today.
