Yeah, these are definitely the same DJs that trashed them on the air, and then I called in, and yadda yadda yadda isn't it sort of weird that they're headlining this show? Pete had told me this station would be blacklisted, but oh well. I totally had to eat crow and get my tickets (I had sworn off this radio station after above mentioned incident).... Is anyone else going? Yes, it is definitely over 21...
<out of the loop.... what is it that they said? situations like that are part of the reason why i NEVER listen to the radio anymore
It was right before the VMA performance, and for some reason the DJs mentioned OKGo (who had performed at a St. Patrick's Day early morning show for their radio program in March 06) and they said "Well they pretty much disappeared... They are the rudest people you will ever meet, and they wear their stupid little suits...and where are they now! Ha" (or something along those lines) One guy was quite vindictive...and I was listening while driving to work and called in and informed them that they were, in fact, performing on the VMAs, yadda yadda yadda but they didn't put me on the radio. So I emailed into the station and they said something like "I wish you could see how your boys treat people." And that was that. Aaaah, I have a mind to tell Damian about these comments at the show coming up so he can really be rude to them.
ugh. i don't blame you... i think most radio dj's are rude people... the ones around here think they are genuine celebrities, and if you don't 'recognize' them (i mean how could you, its a voice) they get pissy.

Please don't hate all of us! Some of us are generally kind people!
i don't! but honestly... they are a big reason that i don't listen to the radio anymore... that and they NEVER play anything good anymore... the two radio stations i listened to back in the day both got reformatted and the dj's that were on are just completely gone. and the reason i liked the stations was because EVERY dj was good. our like, punk/light/hard rock station got changed into rap (SICK) and our "Popular" stations got changed to 80s, 90's and today! which... really really doesnt play much of anything but the same 10 songs over and over... so I'm a bit jaded by the radio business.
but i dont hate them all. i couldn't hate a fellow ok go fan

To be honest, I couldn't agree with you more. Much of the same happened ALL OVER. My favorite stations are either completely gone or only live on the internet.
And there is NO station in my experience that has ever pushed OK Go as much as they ought to have. If I'd had any say in that when I was on the air I would've played OK Go as much as possible. The people who have the say are generally pretty timid and afraid of taking risks. There isn't a single young person (I'd say between the ages of 15-35) that I've played OK Go for who didn't like it. They just aren't given the opportunity to HEAR the band, because the radio is afraid to push it.
And don't get me started on the reformatting of tons of rock/alternative station in major markets. They call it Free FM, I call it a tragedy. There's no freedom involved, it's just more force-fed opinion in the place of art.
Sorry. I don't even actually still work in radio. All of the above is part of the reason why.
I am hoping someone might have an answer to this question, so here goes:
Does anyone know when OK Go and the other musicians are supposed to start playing? My tickets say doors open at 4:00, but I can't imagine anyone would start playing an hour later. That's just so early in the day. The reason I ask is because my friends were planning on going with me to this show. Unfortunately, our schedules at work just changed so now my friends have to work from 8am to 6pm on Saturday. We all live in San Antonio, so it's a good hour to hour and a half drive to the Austin/Lake Travis area. There's no way they can take PTO at this point and our manager will find it quite suspicious if half our team calls in sick on the same day. We're trying to see if it's going to even be worth it for my friends to get tickets and then drive up the minute they get off of work. I can't find a start time anywhere and I figured if anyone is going to know the answer, it would be someone here.

Considering how many bands are playing, they will likely start pretty early. You may be able to contact the radio station or the venue to find out the order in which they will play. I doubt OK Go would be first since they're the awesomest!

Yes, I was under the impression that OK Go are the headliners of this thing. Thank you, I will try e-mailing the radio station to see if I can get an answer.

I saw OK Go play at a radio party thing at a hotel in Chicago December 30, and I was amazed by the vibe I got from the two DJs from the sponsoring station, Eric and Kathy. They just seemed so arrogant! It was like they thought they were the stars of the show. It really kinda blew me away (not in a good way). What you said totally made me think of that.
Hope you had a good time, Penelope! If you or anyone else got pics you'd like to share w/okgocentral, lemme know.
Quick post--this was definitely one of the best shows I've been to..primarily because I was on the front row right in front of Damian, NO ONE hung around after to meet them (except me) so I had a 15 minute conversation with Damian, he even offered my hub and I a beer (we are kicking ourselves for not taking him up on the offer!). We had a cool conversation and I actually managed not to sound like a squeaky fan girl. He immediately recognized my husband (and I was like, hey, he's not the superfan, I am!) but that was cool too. Twas a fun night for sure! And yeah, Damian was in shorts. Super cute.

That's incredible, and we can't wait to hear more! (Tell me there are pictures. PLEASE tell me there are pictures.)
