This weekend, at a folk festival...

It was the last day of the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and I was down to my last clean clothes, so I wore my OK Go shirt (gold on asphalt), knowing that few people would even be able to read what it said, let alone know who they were. I mean, it's populated by folkies who tend to stick within their genre.

I assumed that if anyone did recognize the band/logo/shirt, it would be someone younger (Gen X/Y), but to my surprise the comment came from a man in his late 50's/early 60's.

"It's nice to see someone with good taste in music here," he said, and considering the festival had the likes of Arlo Guthrie and Dar Williams, this was a high compliment, indeed.

He proceeded to tell me how much he enjoyed OK Go and similar bands, even going so far as to suggest the new Fountains of Wayne CD. He was a pretty hip guy for an old folkie buying CDs from the festival.

I just wanted to share that story with people who would appreciate it smile.gif

  • Wow! What a coincidence. smile.gif

    I like coincidences.
  • Wow. That's AMAZING. Dar Williams happens to be my favorite artist after OK Go, actually. I've always wanted to go to Falcon Ridge, that's pretty awesome FyreGoddess!
  • woah really cool!

where in NY are you from?
  • I'm in Albany and have been going to Falcon Ridge as a volunteer for about the past decade.

DJRose, I *highly* recommend trying to attend next year. Every year is better than the last and if you volunteer, the entire thing is free - they even feed you! Heh smile.gif
