and i have been a fan of dmb for awhile too... i think i developed a large crush on stefan in like, 10th grade. you have fab-o taste in music, by the way
o thank you so do you!!
ya DMB was/is a big thing here. well it used to be bigger. one of my brothers was in a DMB cover band thing, and I would spend a lot of my summer just listening to them practice! And apparently Dave went to my school No one knows exactly, but some teachers say they taught him in the elementary school, and some say he was in the high school. But he was only there for like a few months, not even a whole year, but it's still cool!
I used to be a huge History junkie and let me tell you if school girls knew some historical figures out there were actually overwhelmingly handsome men... unfortunately, many historical paintings and photographs aren't that flattering, you really have to learn to see beyond the funny clothes, weird haircuts, changing facial hair styles (much the same as we do already with Rusty ) ... and the best part, these guys are not only cute, but actually smart and talented... (supressing urge to type "again, like Rusty", that bastard is soooo not getting into this list that easily )
I've spent almost half an hour trying to find the pics of portraits I remember seen when reading these biographies ages ago to no avail, just found a couple of the good ones. Most google pics portray them in their old age...dang
1. Alexander von Humboldt, 18th century adventurer & explorer extraordinaire, after whom the current off the west coast of South America is named... I was sooooo in love with this guy in ninth grade, I think it's because of a school project with this guy that I actually started liking History, I remember even getting as far as reading notes of a transcript off his personal log about newly discovered physical characteristics of south american rivers or something...
2. Philip IV, Duke of Burgundy (XIV century)... was actually given the nickname "the Handsome" as historic reference...should I even say more? it is said that when he died his wife, Joan of Castile, went crazy with pain (she was later known as "Joan the Mad" )
3. Ernesto "El Che" Guevara, political figure and one of the leaders of the Cuban Marxist revolution... it was said that when he entered a room all the women there would just flock around him... I tell you, being a fellow latina, I've had the chance to see video footage of this guy and wow... he was rockstar material that one.
4. Antonio Nariño ideologue and leader of the independence movement of New Granada (that's the name given by the Spanish Crown to the northern south american territory now comprised by Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Ecuador, Perú, etc). Is it just me or did he look like Jude Law? (with substance, unlike Mr. Law if that's even his real name...whatever...)...I wonder, if this guy could actually make those awful white pants of the time look good, how would he have looked in jeans...
5. Nikola Tesla, serbian scientist (physics, electrical and mechanical engineer) who greatly contributed on man's understanding of alternating current electric power & polyphase power distribution systems...it's even discussed whether he was the original inventor of the lightbulb and radio... plus, he had the most amazing green eyes ever...I couldn't find a decent pic of him... but I know David Bowie stared as him in some movie...
6. Yehudi Menuhin, the virtuoso jewish violinist. He actually died just a few years ago but I've seen old videos of him in his twenties and thirties..and oh my God, what a hottie! This was by far the best pic I could find of him (most pics portray him in old age unfortunately) and still it doesn't do him justice, he was incredibly handsome.
7. Peter the Great, tsar of Russia... silly mustache aside, this guy was like 6 feet 10, a terrible womanizer, uber strong and iron willed, basically he got whatever he wanted (and that's so sexy)...plus, he made Russia a major European power in one lifetime...
8. Oscar Wilde ...okay so he was gayer than a pink pom pom...so what? he was an elegant, smart, extremely articulate and a beacon of culture... it's impossible not to fall in love with him after reading his De Profundis... in fact, don't ask me why, but Damian really reminds me of this guy...and I mean it as a compliment...
9. Hypatia of Alexandria I'm so glad someone mentioned having a girl-crush before ... this wasn't just the most beautiful woman ever but she was also a philosopher and matemathician who co-developed the astrolabe and the hydrometer. She had a controversial and tortured life (that's what happens when one is more than a millenium ahead of one's own time) which ended with her assasination on the hands of an angry mob of Christians who believed she was a witch...
10. I still have to decided among Simón Bolívar, Augustus Caesar and Rembrandt so I'll leave it like that.

I can't feel for this guy. Mainly because it was due to HIS theorems that I suffered through Physics. My friend would always yell at weird intervals when frustrated "F*CK TESLA!"
Him and Ohm.
True story. My friend had a wicked crush on Michael Faraday - 18th century Chemist. Nowadays, a Faraday (named after him obv.) is in fact 36 500 Coulombs which is the amount of charge a mole of electrons have.
