Yeah, I just posted this exact thing on another board (and if you're clever you'll know what it is) but I need help.
so... I'm trying to transfer colleges and the one I'm applying to needs a recommendation letter.
I don't really know how to go about this. I don't know ANY of my profs at school (seeing as my classes average about 150 people each) so I'm going the work way. One of my managers at work said that she'd write me one but she doesn't know what to put on it.
So... what should be put on it? And how long are they usually? How should she address it? Like... should it start "To whom it may concern" or should she just start off talking about me?
Ugg, I'm so clueless.

i would really recommend getting an academic rec. letter as well though. send two if you can, one from someone who knows you (i.e. whomever you had in mind from work) and one from a prof. i know it's hard and awkward to ask a prof that doesn't know you (believe me, i've done it more than once), but it's most appropriate in this case. just pick a class that you're doing well in, go during office hours with a resume that highlights what a top notch student you are and so on, maybe a short letter of intent explaining what you need the letter for, and ask if they'd be willing. professors get it all the time, so it won't be too out of the ordinary or weird for them, even if it is weird to you.
well i must be clever, 'cause i know what other board it is!!!
