Justin Jeffre, a former member of 98 Degrees, wants to be Cincinnati's next mayor, saying his love for his hometown and desire to make it better motivated his decision to run.

"I am serious about this, and I intend to win," Jeffre, 32, said last week.

Jeffre said he wants to bring people from all over the city together through Cincinnati's arts and entertainment venues and build a strong downtown.

"We need to sell this city back to the people of this city," he said. "We've forgotten how great this city can be."

He also wants VH1 to follow his campaign for a reality series. VH1 officials have said no decision has been made on his proposal.

Jeffre doesn't have a political affiliation and plans to run as an independent, his spokeswoman, Andrea Leslie, said.

Mayor Charlie Luken, the incumbent Democrat, has said he won't seek re-election.

Mayoral candidates officially run as nonpartisans. They face off in a primary on Sept. 13, with the top two vote-getters competing in the Nov. 8 election. The filing deadline for the primary is June 30.

So if one of the guys from 98 Degrees can do it, I think one of the OK Go guys should do it. Mayor Nordwind has a nice ring to it anyways tongue.gif

Dude, Tim Nordwind would be an awesome mayor, hands down!
we should start campaigning for him! Nordwind for major!! biggrin.gif
  • I'm so tempted to go make an iron-on shirt that says that now.. people would be like "Nordwind for Mayor? Who's Nordwind?"
  • haha! I think you totally should, that would be great.

you soooo should! and when people ask who's Nordwind... just say the next mayor that's who! lol
  • I think I'm going to have to now. Next time I go to the craft store, I'll get the stuff, and if it turns out well, I'll post a picture of it.

Maybe I can get Tim to sign it the next show I go to smile.gif

  • That is awesome! Perfect I say! You'd best be making that shirt and getting it signed by him! lol!
  • the shirt will look awesome w/ that graphic. i'd so wear that shirt just for the hell of it and to campaign for Nordwind. i'd even wear it to the Houston Show, which i soo hope i can go, just the whole job situation is keeping me down. damn why do i live 6 hrs away from houston. i so promised myself next time okgo was in texas i'd see them again.
  • Hey, I totally sympathize with the 6 hours away thing. The furthest I've driven so far to see them was about 6 hours. I need to see them again. The only feasible show is a 22 hour drive. Boo.
  • i know i went to see them in austin, which was like 5-6hrs, but flew cause no one wanted to drive up w/me. and i suck at direction when i'm by myself. but this time if go to houston, i have some one to go w/. but the thing is i think it was would less expensive to fly ($116 round trip), then driving cause the gas is so damn high. but with work they are like why do you want to see that band, you already saw them. ugh, i'm like cause do.
  • My friend and I tried to figure out how we could fly down to Florida.. tickets are more expensive than that for the flight I would have to take though. And I have classes on Friday and Monday... it's just really not feasible. But I really want to see them.. the people at your work just don't understand! I've seen them 3 times so far on this tour, and I still want to see them again.
  • well the show is on wednesday. i don't have class tuesday and thursday, which will work out pretty well and class in wednesday won't be that bad w/me missing. the only problem is i doubt the will let me work early on tuesday, and have off on wednesday, reason being some girl quit like 3 weeks ago and they have not replaced her yet. and coming to thing about i doubt they will. which totally blows! i wish they would move the houston show to friday, cause could soo go then.
