I found this on pitchfork and thought I'd share:
OK Go Discuss New Album
Kavitha Chekuru reports:
The second album. The follow-up. The sophomore hump. Many have faced this hurdle and failed. Now stepping up to the challenge is Chicago power-poppers OK Go, who will release Oh No on Capitol Records on August 30. Recorded in Malmö, Sweden, with producer Tore Johansson (of Franz Ferdinand fame), the album will be a departure from the clean-cut sound of their self-titled debut, according to lead singer Damian Kulash. "This album is more raw, more energetic, and more organic than our first," he says, also accurately describing the Jamba Juice smoothie I had for lunch. "It's more about the push and pull of the rhythm section and less about stacks of harmonies or anthemic choruses. Our first record was basically a studio project; we wanted it to be gleaming and shameless and plastic and hooky and happy. This time around we tried to leave a little more space. We left more grit and applied less polish."
Oh No was recorded during a period of strife for the band: "We were weary and shell-shocked from two straight years of touring on our first album, three of us had broken up with long-time girlfriends, two of us were discombobulated from moving across the country, and then George Bush won the fucking election while we watched in dismay from a tiny apartment in Sweden," explains Kulash. "So the record itself wound up being about little disasters." Hopefully they don't all add up to one big disaster.
The first single off the album will be "Million Ways", the hilarious video for which is currently streaming on their website. (Two words: SYNCHRONIZED DANCING.) OK Go will also spend August and September on tour with labelmates and Chicagomates the Redwalls. NO Stay:

when did that officially change.
when did that officially change.
Well, they changed it before July 28th. I asked the same question to Damian. They were doing the dance and when Damian was explaining, he said that they were dancing to their new single "A Million Ways". I can't remember exactly what he said, but something about that "Do What You Want" sounds too much like other stuff on the radio and that "A Million Ways" makes a better single or something. I think it might've changed because of how well the dance video is doing.
I'm surprised he said that, actually. "Do What You Want" was played for one night on the radio by me as the song on New Music Mondays, and every person that called in said that they never wanted to hear it again (to put it nicely, some of the listeners had bad manners lol).. so they obviously didn't think it was like what was on the radio now.
BUT i still really want to see the DWYW music video. That casting call that was up makes me interested.
someone came on the board and asked about a casting call. i think it was on like craigslist or something. i forgot what it had said... but it was interesting...
