movie hopping w/ (sorta) famous people

edited November -1 in General Discussion
As you all know I work in a small (8 screen) movie theater in down town columbus.

The lead singer of (Warner Bros Artsts) The Sun just snuck into the 1:50 Aristocrats.

Very exciting.

(btw, the last time he came in it was 2 days after I got my wisdom teeth out and my head was as big as a watermellon)

  • you truly are someone who knows someone...
  • Hey, he looks like Rivers Cuomo. or vice-versa. I like the Sun--no one famous ever came into the bagel place I worked at...

    you know it
  • ...he looks nothing like rivers!
  • he does have blonde hair, but he really did look like Rivers when i saw him live.
  • he looks more like the guy from pavement to me...........
  • Have they released their debut CD/DVD thing yet? I've seen conflicting dates all over the place... I'm going to go with this Tuesday because that's what their official site says. I'm excited to see all the music videos (OK Go should look into this for their third album!! haha)

Those boys are very talented and very pleasant to talk to.
  • I just validated his parking on his way out! *squee!!*

Um... I don't know. I think they either have or they're just about to.
  • So when you have people like him come in, do you talk to them? as in "Hey I like your band" or whatnot....
  • YOU SEE SO MANY COOL PEOPLE RACHAEL! i envy you
  • lol. i work in a cinema. and we NEVER get famous people in. thats mainly because we're crap lol, BUT we do get random extras from like charlie and the chocolate factory come in haha.

sometimes... most of the time I just look at them and then say "guess who's in theatre 4!!"

But I've talked to a few like Stellastarr and Adam from Maroon5. I missed Justin Timberlake though... wasn't working that night. My friend got Kanye West's autograph but said his "posse" were assholes. wink.gif
  • Going along with the theme of seeing famous people at work, I have a little story for y'all.

For lunch today, I went downstairs to the ginormous food court on the first floor of my building to get a sandwich. As I was walking, I saw a cute, dark-haired guy, wearing a baseball cap, jeans and t-shirt, with arms full of tattoos. It took me a second before I realized that it was Chris Carrabba from Dashboard Confessional. He headed into Dunkin Donuts. The groupie in me was tempted to follow, but I didn't. The fact that he played a benefit concert last night at the House of Blues (a ten minute walk from here) solidifies my belief that it was him. That made my day. cool.gif
  • I saw Lenny Kravitz once. And I saw Tim Curry (!!) through his dressing room doorway at one of his Broadway shows and he smiled at me (!!). haha.

That's the extent of my brushes with celebrity.
  • Jealous, jealous, jealous. Damn. I'm a big fan of Chris Carrabba (this just solidifies that I need to move to a big city--Chicago? after I graduate), and Tim Curry is just amazing. Even if he refuses to talk about RHPS.

I suppose you could consider this work: Jake Gyllenhaal was on campus to stump for John Kerry last fall, and I was assigned to stand next to him during the crowd when he was signing autographs after his speech, and I had to help him weave through the crowd when he needed to leave--essentially being a bodyguard. I find it hilarious that it was my job, because you could probably call me petite.. not the most effective, but hanging with Jake, it was worth it.

I also was sitting behing Doug Wilson (Trading Spaces) in a trolley car in Las Vegas, but that's not work related.

Poison, the "groupie in you" probably did the right thing. We know what happens when we act on that mellow.gif haha
