So I'm bored with my music right now....everyone please post one (or two) bands I should check out that are fun to listen to and perhaps tell me who they sound like (I like all sorts of random stuff)....
surefire myspaceofficial site i've just recently discovered these guys, and now i'm addicted. i don't really know how to say what they sound like... i just know that i've listened to the same 4 songs the past 48 hours... haha.
adam richman official site i guess he's sorta like, indie rock w/ a kind of emo edge.
#1. stellastarr* LOVE LOVE LOVE them. They sound like an amazing blend of the Pixies and The Cure, and similar to Interpol, The Killers, and The Bravery.
#2. Well, darbie beat me to it, but I very much recommend JAVELINS. c o o l n e s s . They have a spikey, dancey, spacey indie rock sound. "Square Hips" is a tasty jam.

So dear Queenie, have you been busy checking out our recommendations? What do you think so far? And if I may, here are a couple more suggestions: Magneta Lane: Canadian female rock trio on Paper Bag Records and I think they're only like 19. Influences include The Velvet Underground, The Kinks, Nancy Sinatra, Sonic Youth. Petracovich: female singer-songwriter on piano with electronics and light beats. Very pretty and soothing. Influences include Aimee Mann and Sparklehorse. (Hm, I don't know if the myspace page is freezing up on you like it is for me, so just in case here is the official site.) And then there's Go Betty Go. You might already know about them, but I think you might like them...they have a couple songs in Spanish.

kissing tigers.
"So Stay In Love" is my fave track...synth rock, sounds kinda like The Faint, with Kill Hannah vocals.
but kissing tigers is like the only synth rock i have... i wonder if ill like more.
Kissing Tigers is definitely synthy, yet seems very indie to me. I was surprised you had heard of them. The Faint and the Rapture seem to have a bigger sound and also fit in with the new wave 80's dancey trend, which is probably why they are more known than Kissing Tigers. Still, I like me some Kissing Tigers.
haha yeah. the only reason i heard of them is i discovered the velvet teen, and became absolutely obssessed with them. and then ordered some shiznit from the record company, and got a sampler, and got obssessed with every band on slowdance.. kissing tigers being on there.
I'd already heard Head Automatica, Maxeen, mae, my american heart, midtown, jamison parker, alkaline trio, the faint, Elliot Smith, and go betty go.
As for the others: I like Self (dave are they still together?) and Adam Richman A LOT. Woo! haha. Javelins and Stellastarr* aren't bad, but they aren't my favorites. I definitely like Baumer, Magneta Lane, and Surefire. I'm working on the rest. I'll keep you updated. Thanks everyone!!

Why not? I haven't listened to them yet.
The Blue Van: I like them. They're Danish! Denmark is like the coolest country ever! Plus they sound really good. haha
The Stands and The Thrills are a lot of fun. I'm definitely digging their sounds.
Nightmare of You are simply awesome. As are you, Sarah, for your great taste in music and for being named Sarah.
Oh and I've heard System of a Down, and I'm not gonna lie--they kinda freak me out. haha
that makes me
