BOSTON Nov 30, 2005 — The struggling Boston Bruins traded captain Joe Thornton to the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night in exchange for three players.
ha ha... those three players must feel dised... having 1/3rd the talent of joe...
im from the t-dizzie-dot... meaning i dont really watch hockey unless the leafs are playing (they rock by the way) and some other canadian teams...
haha. I was just about to ask someone how the bruins, who are amazingly sucky this year, could have traded their captain and gone on to win a game against ottawa.
All in the span of two days.
if Boston is lucky, this might be another "nomah" sort of fiasco that turns into another championship of some sort.
but...
I seriously doubt it.
really really unlikely.
ah well, I'm not that interested in hockey anyways. All I know is that the bruins have been sucky for as long as I can remember, really.
btw, since when does someone in England pay attention to Boston hockey? not that I'm complaining, it just seems slightly odd to me.
all in all it's not a horrible trade. i think it's worse for the sharks because now they are extraordinarily thin on the wings. the sharks were looking for a goal scorer. joe thornton is not a goal scorer, but he will turn cheechoo in to one. the bruins got some good players out of it in sturm and stuart. it's not often you can just insert a top two defenceman into your line up, and i think sturm is way underrated. he's a speedy player with great hands. if he has the right linemates he could do some damage. the 2 of them won't be able to make up for thornton though. i don't even talk about primeau because he's just a throw in. i don't think the bruins need any more big over the hill centers. all in all i think it puts both teams in a worse position but it was worse for the sharks and it's not nearly as bad as everyone thinks it is.
I don't know enough about hockey to say whether or not it was a good trade
the most I know about Joe Thornton is that he always did that fundraiser at some bank where he and someone else would have breakfast wiht the winner of a contest.
I also think he's done some ads for a bank about selling and buying homes, with another guy who play(s/ed) for the celtics...
Hells yes they are your team! I love the Bruins, no matter how crappy others may think they are. I'm born and raised a New Englander...they'll always be my top team
well yeah if I was ever asked what my fav hockey team is, I would definitely still say the bruins, I just dont think about them much and don't really follow them the way I do the other boston teams.
just from watching tv and playing the vidio games...bruins were always the hard hiting teams...and hal gill was/is a beast in defence....thus my love for them grew

yeah.
cheechoo: 2 goals, 0 assists
thornton: 0 goals 2 assists
How did that come about?
Aren't there some ridiculous rules now about checking and body contact and stuff since the strike ended?
oh and boston rocks as a city...
Boston does rock!
Q: does that include the suburbs ten miles north of boston?
because if it does, then my town would so totally rock.
Actually, I pay more attention to college hockey, like the local teams and the big competition between harvad and bu and bc and northeastern.
mainly due to your pressence in it though =p
also John Cena is from massachusetts...
mainly due to your pressence in it though =p
Im sure that wherever in England you are rocks just as hard as my town, because of you.
ok now we're even for compliments...
