  • you shoulda posted a picture of boston market...
  • Yay, Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore finally started this thread! biggrin.gif

The concert at the Paradise Rock Club was AWESOME!!! My friends and I had a really really good time. I'm not going to post a full review until I upload ALL of my pics- the 185 from this concert (!!!), PLUS all the pics from the last two concerts that I never posted, and then I'm just going to have a concert post fest.

But until then, here are the night's highlights:
*We were the first people on line!
*Getting to say "hi" and talk to Damian pre-show when he popped his head out for a second. biggrin.gif
*Tally Hall, the first opening band. Amazing, funny, so well orchestrated and put together.
*Getting to sit in the "Capitol Records" section for part of the concert (in which nobody from Capitol was sitting blink.gif ).
*Controller.Controller was also really really good.
*Standing in FRONT ROW during the concert!!!!!! It was great!!!!!! (That's why I took so many pictures- I was sooooooo close.)
*They added in "You're So Damn Hot," which wasn't on the set list! *squee*
*Also, totally got Damian sweat on me at one point. I don't know if that's awesome or not, though. (I think it qualifies as awesome.)
*And....Damian LOVED my shirt!!!! He saw it and basically started squeeing and jumping up and down with joy. It was so great. I wrote more about it over at this thread.

    The lowlights:
*Standing outside in the cold for over and hour.
    *Waiting in general.
*I really had to go to the bathroom at one point, so I had Hilary and Emily hold my place up front, but trying to get back in, all these obnoxious people were getting in my way and being rude. tongue.gif Whatever.
*One of the guys from Tally Hall looks like my ex, Rob. And then we found out the guy's name is Rob. Freaky!
    *The being squished part.
*I recorded the whole concert on my mp3 player, but it didn't come out right. Just a lot of loud thumping with Damian's voice in the background.
*Not getting a set list. (One day, I WILL get one! But I got a picture of it at least.)
*Not getting to say hi to Rusty or Dan. sad.gif

Pictures and full reviews will come soon, I swear! (I know I say that all the time, but I mean it this time!)

should have peeeded on them =p

    glad for the fun times!
  • Grrr..........

I don't like Boston no more

While Im glad everyone had fun, the concert ws, once again, 18 plus.

    It made me sooooo sad

Especially when I got the Pheonix on thurs. and it talked about the show and I was like "noooooooooooooooo........................"

So instead I went to a not-so-cool concert at my church downtown. High school bands who were actually pretty good. One was absolutely amazing, and the others were decent.

    Except for the screamo band.

    Yeah.

I wanted to go see Ok Go soooo bad.............

I would have, except they were being obnoxious after I'd gone to the bathroom.

thephantommilk, if they come 'round to Northampton again, you're more than welcome to come out here- their shows in NoHo tend to be all ages. biggrin.gif
  • ok go should have gone to that church gig and blown everyone out of the water
  • I agree....

It wouldn't have even conflicted with their show because it was over by 10:00!!

AND it was for a good cause and all (Wakefield interfaith food pantry!)
  • wakefeild?

we have a wakefeild in england
  • The Boston show was amazing. I decided to forgo being right up front (as I normally am directly in front of Damian) and stood in the back on the balcony. Great view. Great shots. The guys were funny...Damian regailed the audience with some funny stories and was just quite entertaining.

I didn't take quite as many pictures as jedi...but I got a few good ones. I'll post a link to them and if you want to you can look, and if you don't want to you don't have to. lol.

Overall it was a great show, as usual. Loved Tally Hall...didn't love Controller, Controller at all...but to each thier own. And OK Go just brought the house down.

I didn't think I was going to like Controller.Controller at first, but then I wound up really enjoying watching them.

And Damian was hilarious. Even though my recording of the concert didn't come out well, I can still understand what he's saying when they're not playing, so I'm going to try to write out a bunch of his jokes and stories. (Like the Dan-and-the-Bucket one. wink.gif )
  • There were a lot of things I didn't like about Controller, Controller...which surprised me because I thought I was going to like them. *sigh* Oh well.

The Dan and the bucket one was quite funny. I personally loved the one about Damian sliding across the stage and then he kept his pant leg rolled up. Silly kid. lol.

Also, how great was the cover of ELO's "Don't Bring Me Down"? My sister recorded it...I am in love.

Both of those covers were GREAT. I'm really mad that my recordings didn't come out. I was too close to the speakers, I think. Damian actually had the lyrics for the ELO song posted on the speaker in front of him, along with the set list, which I just found totally amusing.

The rolling up the pant leg thing was so funny. He had a lot of freaking energy. I don't think I've seen him jump all over the place that much. ('Course, it was the first time I saw them on a big-ish stage when Damian wasn't hopped up on steroids or NyQuil.) He was also mouthing along with the music. Like when they were playing "Get Over It," he was mouthing along, "Ba ba, ba da da da, ba ba, ba da ba da..." which I thought was so cute.

But my roomie pointed out something that I kind of noticed, too- when you meet him in person, Damian seems like the coolest, most laid-back person, but when he's up on stage, you get this feeling like he's kind of on an ego trip or something (her words, not mine wink.gif). Like, "I'm sexy, you all know I'm sexy, and you're all screaming for me," kind of thing.

I mean, it doesn't mean that he's actually an egotistical person at all; it could just be how he reacts when he's on stage. It would be hard to have all those screaming fans and not have some kind of feeling like that.

Anyway, that's what she pointed out to me. Also, she FINALLY conceded that Damian and Cillian Murphy look A LOT alike, especially when you see Damian in person.
  • Haha yeah...two of the five times I've seen them he was hopped up on steroids...but I'd have to say this was the show where he had the most energy...aside from Lollapalooza when he jumped off the stage and ran to the sound booth, climbed up it, ran back to the stage and jumped back up on that (boy was crazy! lol).

I like watching Damian sing along to rap songs...it gets me everytime I see him do it. He was singing along with "Drop It Like It's Hot" when it was playing...sooo cute.

He's a wicked sweet guy. And so easy to talk to. I didn't stick around to talk to him after this show, since I've already meet him...every other time. lol. Plus I didn't see them anywhere...and driving in Boston was a bitch.

Wow, that Lollapalooze sit sounds crazy! But it's a totally Damian thing to do. I wanted to get a pic of him doing that split this time around, but my camera is so freaking slow that by the time it finished processing the pic I had just taken, he was already standing back up. mad.gif I need a new camera.

Before the show, I saw him walking around in the hallway leading to the rock club, listening to his iPod and drumming along on some kind of table like object. It was so cute. I was really confused at first, like, "What is he doing...?" and then I saw the earphone cord, and thought, "Ahhh..."

He is really easy to talk to. I kept going up to him and talking after the show, because I kept wanting to ask him questions. I said, "I'm sorry I keep bothering you..." and he was like, "Bother away." So I chatted on about Secret Dakota Ring and how I thought Andy was awesome, and touring this summer, and me going abroad next year. It was cool that he was interested (or at least seemed interested) in what I was saying.

And then when I was saying 'bye, he said, "'Bye, thanks, sweetie!" and I basically melted on the inside.

bwahaha, that's the most essential part to be a lead singer in a rock band tongue.gif .

    There's a lot of Wakefields.

    There's one in Virginia too.

Ours was South Reading until we changed it and named it for Cyrus Wakefield who made us an industrial town back in the 1800s.
