And just go the day of the show anyway. You never know.
Definitely go to the show anyway. It might be kinda hard to find tickets online at this point since Kansas doesn't seem to have a very active craigslist, but there are always people who have extra tickets because their friend couldn't make it or something. And if you get there early and ask about tickets, and then don't piss off anyone at the club in the process of trying to buy tickets, the staff might take pity on you and let you in, particularly if you just want to see that half-hour set. Your best bet is to be passionate but polite & patient about getting a ticket- if you bother the staff they definitely won't help out. And there's always a chance of seeing a member of the band and having him get you in. I doubt they have a long guestlist in Kansas.
This happened to me too in Minneapolis, but I still scored two tix (that i didn't get to use---long story) after I called the venue and explained my plight.
My story's probably a little different than yours but if you're persuasive enough they can maybe reserve some tickets.
Other way: Offer to hand out fliers beforehand or do other menial jobs See if you can get on the VIP list and still offer to pay the ticket price
Most places have 5-10 extra tickets at the door. Make sure you get there super early though.

Or Craigslist. And if there are any colleges around, check to see if they have a DailyJolt, and check out the marketplace.
