  • Its also known as Fat Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday... biggrin.gif

I think its weirder to say "HAPPY FAT TUESDAY" Thus, HAPPY FAT TUESDAY!!!

... i miss the annual public school pancake breakfast... rolleyes.gif
  • yay! King Cake time too!!
    yum, I miss King Cake.

    Happy Mardi Gras/Happy Fat Tuesday!
  • I completely forgot that it was Mardi Gras. I usually go around wearing a mask and beads, but that didn't happen this time around.

    But Happy Mardi Gras!!!

The college chapel is having a pancake dinner tonight, so I'm going to that after bell choir practice (which is, incidentally, in the same building). Yum. biggrin.gif
  • I did earn beads today.

Though, all I did was pull down part of my cover up and expose my shirt-covered boob. My friend's response: "Did you just flash me your shirt?!"

Happy Fat Tuesday! Eat some fat so you skinny little things can put on some meat before Lent.
  • one of the seniors (bright red hair, over six feet tall, skinny) wanted some beads, but he refused to flash us.

Probably because he was going to a jazz competition and was dressed up all fancy, but still. come on.

Best mardi gras = 7th grade. About ten kids brought in cakes for each french class, and we just feasted the whole 40 minutes. (and for the whole week because no one wanted to bring the cake home, so we needed to eat it all up so it could not be in the classroom anymore. Kinda defeats the purpose of Mardi Gras, but hey, whatever.) yum.

I was gonna wear my New Orleans shirt (haven't worn it since hurricane katrina and all), but I forgot.

tomorrow, I'll wear it. New Orleans is back.
  • So many people in my school didn't get the fact that "Mardi Gras" means "Fat Tuesday" in French . . . even the French students didn't register that.

hahahaha, I was like the only one, along with a few others. hahahahahhahaha.

But I had fun today. My French teacher passed out beads for us (I got gold ones, which means power. smile.gif I learned that today.)

And we did a Mardi Gras project, where we made fake Krewes (New Orleans citizens know what I'm talking about.) I did mine on Jacques Cousteau. laugh.gif
  • I was always told that purple was power (or royalty), gold was wealth (or power), and green was justice. However, on the radio today I heard something different.
Am I just retarded, or are there different interpretations, or was the radio guy wrong? please let it be the lsat one, I like being smarter than news guys. tongue.gif
  • Gold = Power
    Green = Faith
    Purple = Justice

    I think . . .
  • yeah there are multiple interpretations of the colors.

I'm glad you all had good days!

Ohhhh, French class and Mardi Gras....I remember those days....we don't do that in French class anymore. Probably because I'm taking French classes on prostitution and theatre... blink.gif
  • Apparently yesterday was also National Pancake Day.

In an attempt to celebrate, my friends and I were going to have a Pancake Diversity Day (i.e. making every type of pancake we could think of), but our plans were foiled when we realized none of us could make pancakes. 'twas a sad day for pancakes.
  • You can't make pancakes? Not even the ones from a box?

aw, now I crave pancakes and I have no where to get any...

I had pancakes yesterday! With strawberries and chocolate ice cream. biggrin.gif They were yummy. And I was quite surprised by the vegan pancakes, they were quite good as well.

I <3 pancakes. But not as much as French toast. Croissant French toast = good like whoa.

I have a major problem with the flipping process. They tend to end up on the floor and not in my mouth.

Oh my goodness... when one gets the craving for French Toast, 'tis hard to resist. Esp. when they're made and fresh and.... mmm. I really want to make french toast now... and it's 12:38 am.
  • ahh man! u guys are killing me...french toast?! it is definitely the best. my absolute favorite carb of all time. how do you make croissant french toast? I've never heard of it but sounds yummy!

On National Pancake Day, IHOP was serving a free short stack to every customer, sadly I didn't go. sad.gif

Oh yea! I heard about that. My friend and I had a little miff because she read the date wrong and thought it was a month earlier... so she got all excited in January about nothing.

This only goes as further proof that IHOP is god in restaurant form

To make croissant French toast, you just use croissants instead of bread. You have to be really careful, though, because when they soak up the eggy stuff, the croissants fall apart really easily. My mom and I were making French toast one day, and we had some croissants lying around, and we decided, why not? So good.

I haven't been to IHOP in ages. And now I want a free short stack. sad.gif
  • i never got why mardi gras meant fat tuesday, when in french, fat = gross....... stupid french people

anyways, we had lots of pancakes in my house. It was awesome. Until i got really ill haha
  • It's cause you eat a lot to fatten yourself up for Lent, when you have to fast for 40 days so you'll lose all the weight.
