SOUTH BY SOUTH WEST... tonight!

edited November -1 in OK Go
Austin, TX//

Who's seeing them at the Red Scoot's Inn tonight? How in the heck are you getting in?
I was talking to Tim about the show tonight (talked to him on the 7th at the MCS show) and he said it was a "private party." I guess you have to know people.

Also, anyone going to see them Friday at Dirty Dog Bar? Oh how I despise 21+ shows.

I wish they were doing an all ages. *sniffles*

  • grrrrrr! I'm missing ALOT of bands in Austin this weekend!!! Go see other artists if you can't get in! There are sooo many other ones that are superb. You're very lucky that you live in Austin and have a wristband to get in! I am painfully jealous. I just checked the site, you can go see the Arctic Monkeys if you like them, that's all ages... and Metric, the Subways, & Snow Patrol all in one show is all ages too...there's plenty more to see other than Ok Go...

Do you find it rather funny that Damian is going to be talking in a forum that discusses "10 Things You Can Do To Change the World?"
  • Haha yes, that will be fabulous.

And I don't have a wristband.. oh no way. There is so much free stuff that I totally take in all of that. I saw about ten artists today.. all fabulous.

AND OK GO PLAYED FREE TONIGHT! That was such a tiny show, who went? That was very very fun.
They came out amongst the people to do the dance because there was no room on the tiny deck/"stage".
  • Ahhh! I'm green with jealousy!

    KAYLEE MY DEAR.
I cannot beleive you got to see them AGAIN,oh my!
    I am so freaking envious.
It was that small? You lucky, lucky girl.
How many times have you seen them now?
Psh,as I said,no one compares to your coolness.
One day when I can actually chose where I go to see concerts,I'll so come down to Austin and we'll see OKGo together. tongue.gif

Isn't it way more fun to see them in a tiny place like that? I saw them at the Grad Club, which is basically just a big house and the stage was in the part that used to be a living room, so it was like OK Go was playing my birthday party or something. They had to move into the crowd for the dance, too, and Andy almost poked me in the eye. I even have a picture of Damian blushing and apologizing because he turned around to kneel away from Tim and found himself like an inch away from a teenage girl's face.

Post that picture, girl! I wanna see! That show sounded waaaay awesome, as if having a dream.
  • Alas, they are polaroids (I'm geeky and retro like that..) but I've been trying to find a scanner and I'm pretty close so I'll show you guys all 12 of them as soon as possible!

Hey pictures are pictures no matter how you take them. As long as you have awesome memories and mementos of such a cool cool event. Dang I wish I could've been there! You sound like me. I don't do technology. I mean sometimes technology rocks and sometimes it's just a big fat hairy pain in the butt.
  • Yeah, exactly. My picture with Damian, for which I decided to go digital, is just both of us laughing at my friend yelling at the camera for being stupid and not working. The polaroids are really cool looking, though. They're so sloppy (I was taking them so quick and just shoving them in my pockets so there's a bunch of funny marks where they didn't develop right) but I get a lot of compliments on them. People always assume they're just pictures my mom took in the '70s or something because of the guys' suits.

Wow, how cool! How close where you? Lol, those suits are fantastic. My mom told me "what? you're going to a rock concert?!" She has brainwashed me against most modern bands and rightly so in many cases. But the suits got her hooked on Ok Go when she saw my pics. Now she wants to know all about them, lol
  • Haha, my mom thinks OK Go is really weird but they're starting to grow on her. She doesn't have a problem with new music or anything (she's actually a pretty big fan of bands like Rilo Kiley and she goes to a lot of local shows), it's just that she just doesn't "get" the dancing.

Anyway, I'd say we were about two feet from Tim and maybe four feet from Damian during the show. But they all rubbed up against me walking on and off the stage!

Wow!!!! I am dying of jealously! How cool! It sounds so dream-like. Was it dark or could you see things pretty good?
  • The lighting was pretty good, no complaints. I just wasn't so into the projector with all of the..flashy..pattern things.

I'd say the very, very best part was after the show, though. My friend made Tim re-tell his sumo wrestling dream he was talking about in the "Grandpa Time" podcast. I think an animated, cursing, yelling Tim Nordwind is the greatest thing I've ever seen. Then he said I was incredible because I asked about this really obscure cover he did of "Hot In Here" by Nelly.

OH! OH! And during the show, the only other OK Go fan in the room yelled "I LOVE YOU ANNDAAAYYYY!" and I felt obligated to say "I love you, Damiaaan." and then he looked up at me and said "Love you back, hun."

Wow, this is the braggiest post ever. Sorry! rolleyes.gif
  • Come on, it ain't braggy. It's awesome! (If I was more prone to using the f-word I'd say it's f-ing awesome!) That's got to be one of the best venues to be at. How cool! I am so jealous! It just sounds so amazing! My girlfriends love Dan and Andy. Tim's my man. How may Ok Go concerts have you been to?
  • Haha, just that one, so I talk about it aaaaalll the time!

If there is only one Ok Go concert that you could ever go to, that's the one to be at! How cool cool cool!

I've finally figured out what i want to do with the spare rooms in my house. I'm opening my own music club! I have a nice open living room and it's right next to the kitchen. Wanna be my business partner? lol biggrin.gif
  • Bahaha, definitely! That's exactly what my friend and I decided that night, too. Here's a picture of the outside:

    image

I circled the room OK Go played in..just because it's so crazy that it was only one room on the first floor.
  • Wow! It really is the living room of a house! Oh, wow. That is just so cool! Dang, I really wish I could've been there too. Can you show us any more pics?
  • This is my house. When I moved from NJ to AZ for school, my mom thought it would be a better investment to buy a house rather than an apartment. Little does she know what I plan to do to her investment. I'm turning it into a concert venue! You and your friend will be my business partners! Ah, if only I had the guts Damian's sister had when she was 14 and got back stage at Les Miserables.
