HA! That's great. And it's true- I really like Green Day, but OK Go is better! smile.gif

  • That's so flipping sweet.
  • i love both, green day are so mega awesome live

I don't think they really intended to sell out, I think it may have been the circumstances surrounding the release of the new album and what it's about. Or at least that's what I think. I could be wrong.
  • Please explain how they "sold out."
  • greenday have hardy sold out

infact there one of few "mainstream" bands to go anti bush, which is hardly selling out right?

A lot of big names in music are pretty openly opposed to Bush.
  • well i wouldnt know to muc on the subject seeing as im all the way in england'land

i love the vidio for wake me up when september ends...as thats a big "fuck you" to such things
  • I just hate that they got so popular..Green Day was never meant to be in Tiger Beat..I still like their music but I hate how little girls are like "OMG I love Green Day!" usually I'll just ask them if they even own Dookie. I don't understand how it was such a big comeback though..they released an album in 2000 and no one really noticed it. I'm still a fan just a little upset.
  • It's because 13-year-old girls everywhere needed something to be ttly punK rawkz0rz!1 about, and so they decided to hate Bush because Green Day made it cool.
  • really, who gives a crap about what the crowd think eh?

i certainly dont..dont let it bother you to much

Haha, in the October ish of Spin magazine, they had an interview with the guys who created "South Park," and one of them was like, "The only way you can go against the grain and be punk now is by saying, 'Bush is cool!'" laugh.gif

But I agree with Pandy- just ignore the crowd and enjoy the band. Like I said, I don't think Green Day "sold out" intentionally- I think it's a product of timing and culture. It is annoying to see 13 year olds at their concerts, but, whatever. You're cooler than them and you know it. wink.gif
  • Agreed. I always thought part of the point of being in a band is to become popular. I really don't think any band goes into the music business to be forgotten in obscurity.

Green Day continues to be innovative even though they're huge... though maybe not as innovative as their Dookie/Nimrod days (I personally adore Warning, though everyone calls it their "pop-y" album; there's something about "Misery" that makes me so happy... ironically).

I went to see them in September witha bunch of friends and, even up in the nosebleeds, it was one of the best nights of my life. Billie, Tré, and Mike all had such energy and the fans were great. We even talked to one of the many merch guys for a while.

They still make good music is my point.

Haha, I used to be so, "Oh my gawd, they're such sellouts..." until I realized the afforementioned point.

So, now I promote the hell out of any band I like hoping that they'll become famous (though I still feel little twinges of pride when I discover a band before they become popular... what can I say?).
  • Yeah why be upset with the band? They can't control who likes them. Besides, do you really want to begrudge them all the hard work they've put in and bitch now that they can afford a decent life instead of living out of crappy old vans without money for food or hotels...
  • I'm not complaining about them..their music career has been excellent, but I'm just complaining about some of their new found fans..I know it's not their fault...no one can control who likes them. I guess all fans are good fans. I still really like them. I don't really want to be one music snobs that says anything that goes on the radio is ruined. They make good music and I'm glad they are selling albums. Oh and the Bush thing...I didn't need a band to tell me..I knew from the beginning he was gonna be a suckie prez.
