So here's a post about the fantasticness that is Rufus Wainwright. I saw him tonight (without a band, just him and a guitar and a piano) and it was an awesome show. Here are some pics, and I took a vid of him singing a new song--the first time he's ever played this song live--but I don't know how to post it cause it's too big to send with Yousendit...He is such a funny guy--basically he's my dream guy but of course he's gay. haha.
ooh, those are excellent! was it a small show? was the crowd great? did he play "cigarettes & chocolate milk?"
Yeah it was a relatively small show. It was an auditorium so everyone was seated (I'm so not used to sitting through a concert haha) and the crowd was pretty good by the end. He kept messing up his songs, but there were definitely some hardcore fans in the audience so we all just laughed, so the mood was really light. He did play "Cigarettes" which made me happy cause it's my new theme song, and he played his cover of "Hallelujah," which I've been listening to all the time recently. I had a really good time, and he definitely won some new fans last night. My friends who hadn't heard him before thought he was amazing.
Thanks on the photos guys. haha I posted the best ones, I had some really bad ones. I wish I could post the video, but I don't know how....
Sorry I never posted an update about that. The video is too big for Youtube--it's 110 MB and the max is 100 for Youtube. I'll try to think of someway to shorten it or something so I can share it.
EDIT: AIM! Anyone who wants to see it im me (queenoftheposers) and let me know. I have an away message up a lot but I'm still on the computer, so if I'm not idle, try getting me cause I may be there.
I am a ridiculous rufus fan like, he's my favorite guy ever. I really really wanted to catch his him when he came to new york with ben folds, but i was grounded and so i missed him. and now (or soon) he'd touring someone else's material, (i believe judy garland?) at a really upscale venue(possibly carnegie hall?) and not only can i not afford that, I also want to see him doing his own stuff, or at least know he's recording.
i think it's awesome you got to hear his new song, maybe i'll take you up on that Im-ing offer. although another option would be to upload it to like www.sendspace.com or some other host and post the link.
Yep, he's going to sort of re-enact this famous 1961 concert Judy Garland played at Carnegie with an orchestra and everything. I honestly don't know any Judy Garland songs besides "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," but Rufus does a really great cover of that.

i would have to agree. if i were a slightly wealthier, slightly more dramatic rufus fan, i'd probably of found that cash to go. but alas.
Um. I love how i got into Rufus Wainwright all because Mr. Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore once recommended "Cigarettes & Chocolate Milk" when there used to be the "Music News" that Mr. Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore would update. Ever since, I've been madly in love with him
I saw him with Ben Folds... so good... they did a duet... I didn't take this video, I found it, but you have to watch it, its so good! (It's of rufus and ben folds doing "careless whisper"
i love that duet, it's been on my myspace for ages and a one they did for the same song in like 2004 has been on my mp3 player for ever, lol. I love ben folds too.
