Wow that article was harsh.

edit: nm. Ooh, that was one harsh article.
  • oh this site pains me, they completely crapped on "Songs for Silverman" which I love. Sure it's not old Ben, but the guy has maturd and so has his music. I’d be a little worried if he was still releasing songs like “Rent-A-Cop.” old Ben and new Ben are different but equally great. [/rant]

They’re so mean on that website, don’t even want to look up my other favorites (but I will).
  • Colour me confused?
  • read the latest news on http://okgo.net/news.aspx
but you might want to heed Mr. Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore's warning
  • yeah, i read that review a while ago. pitchfork tends to hate a lot of the albums i like, so no big deal. as long as the st. petersburg times likes them, i'll be fine!
  • I wonder why he chose 39 and a half foot. It's such a random number. What's wrong with a good old fashioned 10 foot pole. Hmm. Something to ponder.
  • I didn't read the Pitchfork article...and I'm debating whether or not I want to, haha...

But semi-on topic, is the EW article going to be in print....? 'Cause we've been mysteriously receiving EW in my household for a few weeks now....Also, what's with Dami being all like, "The 'AMW' video was a mistake..." when, dude, wasn't he the one who leaked it in the first place...?

Anywho. I want to hear this morose ballad now.
  • Oh well. I'd like it if they got good reviews 100% of the time, but Oh No got me back into OK Go's music and I like it a lot. Some bad review by some guy isn't going to make me like it less.
  • it's not going to change my opinion of the album, but i hate seeing crappy reviews for things i like, especially movies and music.

they were nicer to rufus, and i somewhat agree with some of the mean things they said about him, but they're stil over the top sad.gif

I only know it because of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" which, in my opinion, is a very much underappreciated song. Classic Seussian.
  • With a name like Pitchfork, they're bound to hate stuff. The I liked most about all of the reviews is that they compare OK Go to Weezer repeatedly. If they sounded so much like Weezer, I think I would like Weezer, but guess what, I don't. Some people are just bitter. If you can't be a rock star, why not criticize them?

I think this is a time you can use the phrase "sad and pathetic human being" and not feel guilty.
  • Yeah haha I hate Weezer and see no connection to Ok Go. What was he smoking?
  • Not just "he," on all 3 album reviews they did it, and they all had different reviewers.

Yeah I know what you mean. I didn't mean to sound that way, I just meant that at first it kind of gets me down and then I realize that I enjoy it and it's unfortunate that they don't.
  • I read some of it, but I knew it was just gonna upset me.

Oh and Karleigh I think your signature is gonna give me a seizure.

Also, what's with Dami being all like, "The 'AMW' video was a mistake..." when, dude, wasn't he the one who leaked it in the first place...?

I read him saying somewhere a long time ago that they put the dance/vid together as something to send to Michel Gondry (actually at that time I don't think he named the director in the interview) to try to get him to do a video with them, and they sent it to someone they know who knows Michel Gondry, but in the meantime it wound up on the 'net and they don't know if the copy they sent ever made it to Gondry. Then I started seeing everywhere the story about them just putting the dance together to perform at live shows and them giving out copies of the recording to a few friends and it blowing up from there. Then I read, relatively recently, Damian telling the Michel Gondry story again (and naming him), referring to it as the "real story" and saying that they had shortened it up to the "we gave some copies out to friends" story most of the time because the other story was a pain to explain in interviews. So, supposedly, it really was an accident.

If the way I wrote that just made any sense. I worked many hours today. lol
Btw, if you and everyone else already knew all that, sorry laugh.gif

Something related that I found quite humorous: I was looking through the YouTube comments on "Here It Goes Again" on Saturday, and one of them said something like, "Reminds me of Michel Gondry." smile.gif

*Edit: Oops, I just read the rest of the article ... were you talking about what he says later, by the "morose ballad" part?
  • I don't believe the accident theory. Pam, Carin, would you agree?
