"American Idol-esque TV show called Celebrity Duets that pits celebrities known for things other than singing against each other. Each week, the celebrities will team up with a different recording industry legend to perform."

i am mainly interested due to Y2J Chris Jericho (my all time fave wrestler) is taking part, he has his own heavy rock band fozzy whom i love and have seen..i am a huuge Jerichoholic

so people, if you happen to watch this new show...tell me how The Ayatollah of Rock N' Rolla does!

"Those singing stars are actual stars, not just D-list singers someone dragged out of detox to be on the show. Because of that, however, they won’t stick around for the entire season, as the dancing professionals do on Dancing with the Stars. Instead, the celebrity contestants “will be paired with a different recording superstar” each week, unless they get voted off. The artists scheduled to appear so far include Clint Black, Michael Bolton, Belinda Carlisle, Taylor Dayne, Peter Frampton, Macy Gray, James Ingram, Wynonna Judd, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Kenny Loggins, Richard Marx, Brian McKnight, Aaron Neville, Smokey Robinson, Randy Travis, Dionne Warwick, and Lee Ann Womack. "

"CELEBRITY DUETS is an unscripted series that pairs singing stars with celebrities outside the music industry to make beautiful music together. The show will follow the professional singers as they instruct their partners, choose songs and perform duets in front of a panel of judges and a live studio audience. After each episode, viewers will vote for their favorite duets. The winning pair will emerge from the competition in perfect harmony, while the losers definitely will have to change their tune."

Chris Jericho (WWE World Champion),
actress Lucy Lawless (“Xena: Warrior Princess,” “Battlestar Galactica”),
actor Cheech Marin (“Cars,” “Nash Bridges”),
2004 Olympic Gold Medal-winning gymnast Carly Patterson,
actor/director Alfonso Ribeiro (“The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “All of Us”),
pop culture guru Jai Rodriguez (“Queer Eye”),
actor/comedian Hal Sparks (“Queer as Folk”)

ahh!! I love those two guys! But what a weird concept for a show. I love that conservatives lament the state of entertainment these days, but it's their own station (FOX) that puts crap like American Idol and Dancing with the Stars on.

I've never heard of this show, which probably doesn't bode well for it's chances. Then again, I avoid Fox like the plague so that could be the problem--has anyone seen ads for this?
  • i've not heard of it...but then i don't watch tv.
  • wow alfonso ribiero! i hope he does the carlton dance!
  • anyone planning on watching it?
  • screw this shit..

Former WWE Champion Chris Jericho's venture into the mainstream was short-lived; Y2J was the first celebrity contestant eliminated from FOX's "Celebrity Duets."

Despite his recording experience as Fozzy's lead singer, Jericho could not match the talent of the celebrity pool consisting of names like Alfonso Ribiero and Lea Thompson.

Jericho received a lukewarm response from the judges for his take on "Mendocino County Line" with country music star Lee Ann Womack. "Signed, Sealed and Delivered," his duet with Peter Frampton, played to a much more favorable reaction from the judges, but it wasn't enough to push him through to the next round of the competition.

Carly Patterson was the last contestant to be pushed through to the next round; she and Jericho were presumably the judges' choices for "worst two" of the night.

"Queer Eye"'s Jai Rodriguez emerged as the judges' favorite, but beginning next week, elimination power will be in the hands of at-home voters.
