Forward To The Past

edited November -1 in General Discussion
This isn't spam, this is the general discussion, and I want some feedback on a no-profit film with no budget I made with a friend for school.

Forward To The Past.

Made for school, most of it filmed at school, the other most of it filmed at my house.
Written, Directed and Starred in by Emmett Redding (14 years old) and Paul Barresi (15 years old).

A brief synopsis of the film: This story centres around schoolboy Marty McPaul (Paul Barresi), who is friends with the eccentric mad doctor, Doctor Emmett Red (Emmett Redding). One day, on his way to school, Marty runs into the Doctor, who has come from the future to warn Marty that he gets murdered. They travel through time to stop the killer, though little does Marty know that his murderer may be closer than he thinks...

Also, before you watch it, please take note that the ending may seem confusing and rushed because some of the footage was destroyed in post-production and some scenes had to be taken out due to time purposes (we only had a ten minute time-frame), so yeah. Anyway, here's a link to the film on YouTube.

Also, it is quite bad quality as I had to squash it down to put on youtube, so yeah, anyway.

Go here, or paste this into your address bar, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCSMNfrtPcY

All kinds of feedback appreciated,

Emmett Redding

  • for constructive technical criticism:
    - you should use a tripod for talking head shots (ones where the characters are just standing still talking) and close ups.
    - watch your continuity, for example something small like when you guys run in the shack, the next scene you slowly walk into the shack insteadof running in, or something big like your sweater, it throws off the viwers concentration.
    - and some of the scenes could have been made more interesting if you cut in some medium, close up and detail shots.
    - also music would have helped to add excitement.

as far as story I thought it was funny! there was some really good comedic lines in there, and it's definitely a fun concept. I enjoyed it, is it for a film class?

    also i love your accent
  • Lol, thanks for the feedback biggrin.gif You're right, we should have used the tripod, which we only used for about four shots. But yeah, the continuity in that film is quite bad, but we filmed all of the scenes on three seperate days, two of them being at my school, and one at my house, and the one at my house we didn't much care about the continuity 'cause the thing was overdue and needed to be handed in the next day ohmy.gif . It wasn't for a film class, it was for hmm, how can i put this... it was made to show to my whole year level at school, and we had about eight weeks to make it, and three of those weeks we couldn't work on it because we were on the radio, and the other two weeks were because one of the people that was supposedly in our group didn't help or anything, and we had to trash that footage. So yeah, thanks biggrin.gif

My accent? I don't even know if I have an accent, lol what kind of accent do I have? An Aussie one?
  • yeah, but not like a really strong one that people on tv have just kind of mellow, it's cool.

I don't think i have an accent either but i'm sure someone somewhere thinks I do, lol.
  • I just wanted to add, how tall do you want to be!!! LOL!!!!
And you kept playing with your hair haha biggrin.gif
    I liked it smile.gif
  • Lol, yeah, I love being tall. And ugh, my hair gets in the way of everything.

    Thanks biggrin.gif
  • i thought the film was funny lol
