That was because they play it live at a slightly slower tempo than the recorded version. The band and video started at the same time, but the live version of the song was slower so it got "behind."

Edit: I shouldn't say "they play it live" as if they *always* do it that way. But they did it that way in Milwaukee in February--I remember because I thought it was really plodding along But they played it the regular rockin' way last November at the Metro and on Rolling Stone Originals last year ... and now I see they did it that way on Leno, so yay!
