Look what I just saw on slide.com!

I just went there to update my show countdown slideshow that I have on my MySpace, and when you go to the site, at the top they have a bunch of slideshows kinda showing what you can do on the site, which seem like company-made promotional ones, not actual user ones--anyway, this came up in one of them. I did a double-take.

  • What's with the dollar signs on their heads??
  • I don't know--different "example" slides have different images floating around like that (I think there are bubbles, can't remember others), so apparently you can add effects like that if you want. And apparently they got thrown into the money one by slide.com ...

Haha, "You're money, baby. You're money."
  • Those are watermarks. If someone were to say, copy the image and place it on their own website claiming it as their own, the watermark usually has some company or artist's name embedded in the image, so people will know it's been stolen and reproduced illegally. (Why those have dollar signs, I really don't know) It's also used in advertising sometimes(see: every single YouTube hosted video's bottom right corner). And then like Sheri said, sometimes they're put there for effects as well.

Possibly something you can do to your icons, if this icon stealing business is still in full swing on the JC.
  • They were moving around over the pictures ...
