I'm a Karaoke Jockey at a bar here in DE, but I've had shows in CT and NY as well. There are few things I love more than belting out a song by a favorite band and rocking out, only to be asked later "hey that was a great song you sang, who's the group?". Then later you find out that they bought the CD and are all about going with you next time there's a concert! This used to happen to me all the time with this (country-ish) group I like, SHeDAISY.
A few months ago I emailed Mr. Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore about getting some OK Go Karaoke songs released. I also promised Cheesesteaks and/or Crab Cakes the next time the boys came to Philly and/or Baltimore (which they never took me up on, sadly). He wrote me back and said he'd mention it to them, and naught was heard until...
Last night I was at work (wearing my OK Go t-shirt, nonetheless), checking out a few new discs that had been bought while I was off seeing concerts, and there it was. Here It Goes Again. I immediately flipped and did it the next time it was my turn, and rocked out. Made a whole announcement about how this was the band I had taken off to see. And yes, I'll be repeating the whole process (albeit probably without the t-shirt) on Wednesday for my other show.
Now all I need is "Your So Damn Hot" and "Oh Lately It's So Quiet" and I'll be the happiest KJ in the world!
Edited because of a certain Macro that was changing my post... Hmm....

Well, while I was in college, I'd go home to CT and hang out at this Karaoke bar. I made friends with the KJ. Eventually he asked me if I'd like to take a few gigs, and I said yes. Apparently, I was a natural. ::shrug::
The job here in DE came about fairly similarly. I've been going to Karaoke at this place for several months now. They were looking for a backup KJ. I told them about my work experience, and they trained me on the sound equipment they have. Then the main KJ took a job 3 hours away and moved, so I got the job.
Cpstark - I'm all for an OK Go Karaoke contest. Yes. That would rock my world.
But ha ha, she doesn't know this board exists...
