I hope I'm putting this in the right spot. I didn't want to put it under the "great articles thread," as it's just a brief blurb and doesn't go over anything we don't already know about the band, and there was no interview or pictures or focus on any particular member. Therefore, I'm going to liberally call this "stuff" and plop it here.
The most popular DJ at my local radio station did a write-up in his blog praising OK Go's live act, posting a couple of performances of White Knuckles via YouTube (acoustic and electric), and advertising their headlining the station's festival tonight in SLC. Nothing super special, but since I'm buzzing about the show, I'm pretty excited to see it and figured I'd share.
Posting a video or link on the new board seems to be beyond my capabilities for some reason.
For fear of having Vimeo freak the board out again, I'll give directions.
Vimeo — search OK Go Part 1 Barcelona Cultura (no quotes) and the vid I'm talking about should come right up. There is also a Part 2.
Also on Vimeo - search Mondo Spider stomps Maker Faire - between 2:25 and 2:40 there are a few seconds of a couple people we'd recognize riding in an enormous electronic spider.
I hardly ever pay attention to annotations that pop up in YouTube videos, so I didn't notice this at first–maybe there are some other peeps who didn't either. A week or so after this vid first went up, Watch Listen Tell added a hidden track link, which goes to this.
Cool
*Sidenote: If anyone has wisdom (and a spare minute) about why my attempts at embedding are resulting in blank spaces, a PM would be great.
My guess is that Buzznet just got that wrong. At least, I seriously hope so! It may be based on the comment "Thanks, Gophers" on the OK Go fb page, which refers to the students at U. of Minnesota, where they played their last gig.
I always just reffered to us as Boardies. But I guess that's not correct... Do we have any clever ideas on what we should be called? (Please, anything that's not gophers! XD)
I personally thought we were Paracadets (spelling???). I kind of like it, sounds fun and OK Go-ish. And I definitely think it's better than being a Gopher (no offense to the school or anything).
I know how "Gophers" came about. It wasn't me, I swear! However *some* journalists try to be silly and clever AND snarky at the same time. It doesn't work. Even for me, and I pretty much live on the fine line between the three and invented words. Oh, and "OK Gophers" is just LAZY... I mean adding "er" to a fan base is natural, everyone does it, but to imply both that we "GO For it" and comparing us to a pesky varmint that can pop up anywhere? Please...
OK I'm done amusing myself for the moment.
For the record, I call "us" Boardies. Paracadet was originally meant to refer to the other staff members at Paracadute. It just got appropriated around the time Damian called his Bleep Box a "Thingamagoop" and Debbie said she wanted one and I said we all needed to have them so we could perform as a Thingamatroupe, or play along with the band at shows, which would make us the Thingamatroops ... An OK Go Army ... Paracadets.
Yeah, but what about our hardcore OK Go fans who don't post/know/care about the boards? I don't really want there to be sub-genres of fan names.
Also, has anybody contacted the author(s) of that poll, I don't really want an un-official name to be put out there.
Well, Tim DID say that he was going to be on BoyCrazy radio again, so maybe I could call in and ask him if he's heard of any crazy fan names. Or we could just tweet him. :)

Double post, whatevs.
So, I finally figured out where the boys got the inspiration for their snazzy new suits for the Fall Tour.
Behold:
L-R aross, Damian, Tim, Dan
Kinda uncanny, huh?

Definitely uncanny. And now food coloring is probably always going to remind me of the boys. Hehehe.
Lots of pics from last night's show in Las Vegas here. My brother-in-law took all of them except one. I am so glad I brought him to the show!
Guess who's up on the Apple site again...
And in my favorite color, too!
BTW, my boy found this and pointed it out to me.
Cute scarfs for your winter-fair

Great find, BTW!
Yes, thank you person who posted those! (And thanks Laeticia!)
Not actually sure if all of these are real names for fans, but srsly since when did OK Go fans become Gophers? o.O x
