munich show

edited November -1 in OK Go
hey grammy award winning ok go,
thank you for the magnificent show in munich yesterday!

i really don't know how you come up with all this stuff... i'm imagining tour bus conversations:
"hey, we got any tambourines left over? let's give em to the kids!"
"what do you say, how bout we play some songs like among the audience?"
"what could we do for our new single... i suggest pink blow up things!"

very very great. you so deserve that grammy!

and thank you so much for dancing for us! such grace, such beauty!

Yep, they've been throwing tamborines out into the crowd right before "Don't Ask Me", and doing an acoustic set out in the audience.

    exactly.
they said that there's this cliche about germans not having any rhythm and they wanted to disprove it, so they threw some pink tambourines into the crowd with an okgo print on them. unfortunately, some of the people that caught them were drunk and very arythmical, so i'm not sure whether this helped with the cliche at all...
and three of the band came down off of the stage and played a million ways and what to do, with two acoustic guitars and a xylophone. very pretty. the drummer stayed behind his drumset and started into the next song after they were done.
that's a lot of interaction with the audience! i've never seen anything like that.
  • Smileybea, where they headlining the Munich show? I've only ever seen them play in the UK where the venues are huge and often sold out, but I'm off to see them in Bremen on Tuesday and have no idea what to expect . Were there many people at the show?

yes they headlined the show. the line up was:
    20:00 plain white t's (didn't see them)
bromheads jacket (art brut with more punk)
the films (mando diao, only younger and with more make up)
    and then 23:00 ok go

the place was standard indie size but not sold out at all... i'd say half full... sadly. but the people that were there were having a blast smile.gif i really can't estimate the number of people though, sorry.
luckily the band seemed quite happy with the crowd, i thought they might be disappointed but i don't think they were. they may just have been drunk still though (grammy) smile.gif

are you going to bremen from the uk??
  • Yes I'm flying over from the UK on monday night to meet up with Karen and Angela, we couldn't be sure if they were headlining the show, but it sounds like the same lineup so you've been a great help, thankyou. In England you take your life in your hands trying to get near the stage, I'm hoping in Germany it might be a little easier especially if the venues aren't full.
  • for smileybea: danke für deinen bericht smile.gif. freu mich schon auf die show in Bremen. ich bin die besagte Angela wink.gif. wir machen ein kleines forumstreffen dort, könnte man sagen. aber 23 Uhr??? du meine güte.... dann muß ich also 3 stunden da rumstehen bis endlich Ok Go spielen?? *heul* wie lange spielen sie überhaupt?

(for everyone else: I was just crying about the fact I have to wait and stand for 3 hours until Ok Go are finally playing!)
