OK Go and This American Life, together again. Hooray! I had heard about the upcoming This American Life tour, and I thought of OK Go.
Plus guess what? The first audio selection on the myspace page is the story that features none other than our very own Mr. Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore Just!
I just listened to that story on the thislife web site yesterday. Freaky!
(BTW, Mates of State is pretty cool, too. Of course.)
aww, it is sold out. and the tickets were so pricey too!
Ouch. But it would have been worth it.

Yeah I heard this a week ago and they were already sold out Really sucks!!! Oh well I will be seeing them on Friday!!!!!!!!!!
Sold Out! Ugh. Oh well. We Southern Californian's can't really complain. We have them for the Gibson (which I won't be attending ), SDSU , and the one on St. Patty's Day , oh and the one at Pepperdine .

haha, true. do u have links for tickets for any of those shows??? can i still buy some???
With or without OK Go, This American Life is amazing. And when I first heard Ira Glass' voice and didn't know what he looked like, I pictured him completely differently -- still with glasses, but I thought he was short, chubby, had thinning hair and a beard. I was so wrong.
Was I really the only one there? What a fantastic lineup - I'm not going to be able to do it justice, so make sure to grab the podcast when it comes out. The format was roughly band, monologue, band, monologue, etc.
The guys played: Television, Television (how apropos for the theme of the show) Get Over It Invincible A Million Ways jam session (Ira needed "exactly 59 seconds of music" for some part of the radio show) cover of Phantom Planet's "California" during Ira's bit about his fanboy tendencies for "The OC" -- hilarious
and wait for it...
C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips dance (!!!)
They had been chatting about Chic-A-Go-Go and the original TAL tour and I thought "Nah, no way they're busting that old stuff out." But indeed they did! They rocked it hardcore and brought the mother-effing house down. Royce Hall didn't even know what hit it. 'Twas a sight of beauty.
They also played a bit of OLISQ during curtain call. And I seem to remember getting a few lines of Prince's "Darling Nikki" out of Damian when Ira asked him about what music on tv influenced him as a kid. Heh. Oh, and when Ira was pimping the TAL merch and explaining that it was for fundraising, he asked the guys what the OK Go merch was raising funds for. "Getting us to Madison, WI tomorrow!" Glad to see that worked out, lol.
AHHHH. I would have loved to see that. So they do the CL and AMW dances when they don't tour with Snow Patrol? So does that mean that they maybe perhaps will dance for us during St. Patty's day? Ohh. I hope so.
And Welcome, mindles. Thank you for the review. I'm glad someone here got to enjoy it.
!!! indeed! Ahh I hope someone was able to record it on video. And the cover for "California" seems quite intriguing as well. Hopefully someone recorded that too. And yes, welcome and thanks for the review.
Wow! That's awesome. That's very brave of them, but also very cool, of course.
I agree with you, 7stars: This American Life is amazing. Like OK Go's videos, it's another example of a simple, good idea that actually takes quite a lot of work and talent to bring off well.
Ira Glass keynoted a writer's workshop thingy in Cincinnati last fall, and I was lucky enough to get a ticket. He played clips from past shows and told us a bit about how they put a show together. He took questions from the audience. It was great and kind of inspiring for anyone who writes and tells personal stories.
