  • aw! i'm sorry! that sounds horrible! i wish i could help, but i don't have iTunes.. =[
  • hm well thanks for lookin then lol
yea my mom is always messing around with the computer and when ever she sees any files of mine she moves them or deletes them
im constantly having to re download games and things.
im always the one who gets their internet favs deleted.
im always the one who gets screwed.
theni have to sit here for hours on end fixing it.
and i dont kno shit about computers.
so it takes a long time..
i started crying when i saw my itunes.
cause i knew how much work i have to do..
  • (In iTunes) File > Import... > pick your music files.

I think that should work. It might take a while, depending on how much music you have though.

    I hope that helps.
  • yea thats what i dont want to have to.
    i have alot of music..
  • I'm pretty sure there isn't any other way to do it.
  • shit..
    well ill start on saturday.
    its gona take a while.
  • aw that sucks, I'm sorry. good luck.

I had to get a new hard drive for my computer, so all my files got wiped...music, pictures, everything. Trust me, getting your files OFF your iPod and back onto your computer is way more of a bitch.
  • there's a lot easier way. first, whatever folder your mom moved your files into, just rename that with the name of the folder that originally held your files and delete your old one. my friend had the exact same problem as you and that's what she did; she said itunes took a while to copy everything from the new location or something but it still worked.
Also, you can just change the location that itunes links the files to: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301748

And third, your ipod won't lose any music if you connect it to your computer, and that's because your ipod has its own hard drive. I know this first hand because I'm always moving my music files around and so they get lost from itunes but they still work great on my ipod. I just need to fix it on itunes to get it to play from itunes when I want to listen to music directly on my computer and also, to organize my music on itunes.

hope this helped and good luck!
  • okay if you know exactly where all of your music is on your computer..
create one folder - name it anything and put all your music into that

and then take that new folder and go through my documents, my music, itunes, itunes music, and paste the folder into there - if you import stuff from where it is, its going to just put a copy of the song into itunes and not the actual file which may create problems later if you ever change comps and want to transfer your stuff.

anyway, in the itunes program, go to file, add folder to library, then go to itunes, itunes music, and click on the folder you created and add that whole folder.

this might take awhile, but at least you're not adding one thing at a time.. okaaay good luck dear!
  • thanks u guys
im doin a little of everything u all said.

  • The only thing I can think of is to uninstall and then reinstall iTunes. Last time I had to do that, to install an iTunes update, the new version asked me if it wanted to add all the music on my computer to my iTunes library. I said yes, and it imported everything it found. Which was all my music, haha. (And even stuff that I didn't want anymore, 'cause I'd deleted it from my library but never deleted the actual file. tongue.gif)
  • i spent all last night fixing it.
    now its better.
im thinkin about downloading the new itunes.
i dont kno what would be different...
i got an itunes account so i can shop now. ^^
