seriously, though.
John Green is simply one of the best authors I know of. Plus he's adorable and amazing and deserves all the recognition he can get. I mean, seriously. I cannot think of anyone more deserving to be a well-known and respected author, which is what he's quickly on his way to becoming. (also, I met him Friday! yay! it was epic.)
I was as excited about this book coming out as I was about Harry Potter. No joke. and it did not disappoint. It's just brilliant, from start to finish.
It's technically young adult fiction, but only because the main characters are teenagers. It's very accessible for all ages and reading levels. It's hilarious, but it has a lot of substance as well. It manages to discuss Walt Whitman intelligently without sounding pedantic or overly intellectual. At the same time it doesn't pander to a young audience or downplay the intelligence of its audience. The story is touching and poignant and amazing, and at the same time you get a huge amount of classic, spot-on humor. And it's all kinds of humor, too, intelligent and nerdtastic and also penis jokes and general absurdity.
Seriously, I could go on. Everything about this book is incredible. Just incredible.
