Hi guys!
Just a quick post to let you know about tonight's really fun show in MY HOMETOWN, Danbury, CT!
1) I brought the guys two packages of cookies from Stew Leonard's, as well as two smushed pennies from a rest stop on the NJT. I left them with Roadie Jordan, who said thank you for the warm welcome and the cookies, and said that Damian would really enjoy the smushed pennies. I told Jordan who I was - I said "I'm Rachel, aka DJRose, aka the Run's House girl." And as soon as I said "The Run's House girl" he laughed and said "Ohhhhhh."
2) I was waiting outside during sound check and got to hear Return, well, sort of.
3) I met a girl Sarah who was there with her parents. They asked me how many shows I'd been to. When I told them that this was my 11th show, her mom said "Oh really? So you must know Sheri, right?" True story.
4) Opening act Earl Greyhound was pretty good. That female bassist was FIERCE.
5) I caught a tamborine during Don't Ask Me. FINALLY!
6) By the end of the night, almost all of the little cymbals from the tamborine were gone. Must get that fixed, methinks.
7) There was a crazy woman who was trying to dance up on Damian during the acoustic set. Brendan was trying to restrain her, and she danced up on him instead. Damian dedicated "Get Over It" to her.
8) They skipped OLISQ. Weird. I think it was because the room was only about half full. I was disappointed. For obvious reasons. Ah well, thus ends the Run's House "run". I was going to retire it after tonight anyway. The joke's old.
9) We didn't wait around to see the guys after the show, but we told Sarah to tell them we said hi.

STILL can't believe this happened. And it's SO hilarious that you were like, "I was just on the phone with her!"
Just so everyone knows, Sarah and I have emailed each other several times--we got to know each other through her checking out okgocentral.com. But we haven't spoken in awhile and I didn't realize she was going to be at this show, and Rachel had never come up in conversation. This whole thing is sooo funny to me!!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!
This reminded me of the girl who tried using Andy as a stripper pole!
That sucks that the place wasn't full
Sacrilege! Was half the town stricken down with some superflu or something?!?!
Now that I'm more fully awake I can tell you that he said "This is dedicated to my hottie dance partner. I'm sorry that it wasn't really the appropriate time or place for me to dance with you more."
I'll post the banter and answer some more questions later. Right now it's breakfast time at one of my old favorite breakfast places!! YAY DANBURY!!!
I'm at a cross between *drops dead* and
LOOOL!
I don't have much of an answer for you on this other than the fact that I heard that the concert was poorly advertised to the students. It was a free gig for WestConn students, and $25 for non-students (but I have a friend who knows a guy, so Lauren and I were in free). A few weeks ago I called the student center just to get some information and the girl who answered the phone said "Yeah, the rumor is that OK Go is coming." Also the headliner was Lupe Fiasco, and it appeared like they were prepared for more of a hip hop crowd - metal detectors, signs that said "Don't wear your colors - come in peace", that sort of thing.
So here is the Banter report, now that I've returned to reality.
Some people in back were chanting something and Damian said "Is that a football chant? Awesome." And Fist Pumps. :-D Yeah.
Later on there was a lot of noise coming from the back and he said "I can't hear you guys because you don't have microphones" but they kept shouting and he said "Stop complaining, Fuckers." The crowd cheered for that.
He said "Now is this one of those three-day events where you all drink yourselves into a stupor? We played another college show much like this one the other day and I asked the lady 'So I guess everyone's going to be completely wasted, right?' and she said 'uh no, we're all nerds.' And she was right, they were ALL nerds but they got shitbag crazy at the show." I'm not sure of some of that quote but that's the gist.
He introduced the acoustic set by saying "We're kinda thinking this room was a bad choice for this concert and it feels a little impersonal, so we're gonna come out there and play some sissy acoustic songs for you."
The best thing out of this weekend was that my friend Lauren is a complete OK Go convert. She went on and on about how smooth Tim was - that no one could carry off that ascot like he did. Also, she now refers to the more lovely moments of Damian singing as "Chocolate Moments" (completely my influence, I am SO proud ), and wanted me to make sure it got back to the guys that Dan is completely beautiful and doesn't get nearly enough attention. (Now that I've written that it occurs to me that she said nothing re: Andy, and that makes me sad. Although we did listen to the SDR CD on the ride up and she enjoyed it...)
More than anything though I wish I'd stayed. Sarah (the girl who was there with her parents) waited around and she had quite the luck meeting the guys. She did tell them that I said hi, and apparently they "lit up" when they heard "DJRose says hi". I hope they liked the cookies and smushed Pennies!
Oh, Thanks, Sheri! It was so good being home and seeing all those friends I haven't seen in AGES!
I am ridiculously happy that you posted this! I loooove reading the funny things he said! Thank you!!
"Stop complaining, fuckers"- hahaha!
Mmmm, one day they will play in my town (ok, probally not unless they play on a flag pole which sits in the middle of my town--but they'll probally get hit by a car becaue it literaly is a flag pole in the middle of my town with NO stop lights)
Anyways--I miss them! Hopefully I'll see them sometime soon!
Haha Carly that would be so awesome if they played at the flagpole and then we could get flagpole sandwiches with them after and just partay! But it would probably be kind of dangerous and I dont want to take the risk of them getting hurt so i guess they will just have to play at my house. oh darn!
Ahh, so you guys are from Newtown then, huh? LOL!
(Guys - they aren't kidding. The Flagpole is in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.)
I was in Newtown Saturday night - Hot Shots Grille is my FAVORITE bar. I'm from New Fairfield, class of '98. You know, the class that half the kids got arrested/suspended for the senior prank? Yeah, hi. That would be me. LOL!
Hooray for Danbury!!!!
!
Story!!! Tell!!!
Which half were you in, Rachel?
::Sigh:: Suspended. I wasn't even going to GO and my Mom told me to. No lie.
It was the biggest Joke of a suspension in history, too. The only days left to suspend us were during finals, and the rule was that if you had an A in the class you didn't have to take a final your Senior year. I had straight As and didn't have to take finals, so I didn't miss any school that I wasn't going to miss anyway.
The readers digest version of the prank story is this:
We planned to go into the school after dark and move all the desks out of the classrooms into the hallways, preventing anyone from getting back into the school without moving HUNDREDS of desks. I personally moved two desks and hung a sign made by a cheerleader that said "'98 Desks the Halls". But there were people there from other classes who vandalized the school, turned on the gas jets in the science lab (the main was shut off, therefore it didn't end up exploding the school, thank G-d), hung porno pictures all over, put vaseline on the stair banisters, etc. The cops caught 20 or so of the kids going home, and then they ratted out 50 other kids. The entire class was 147 people, and 70-something were either arrested or suspended or both. Something, eh?
Don't go getting any ideas. They actually had police stationed around the school and around town, looking for us. It seems that they really wanted to make an example of us!
You and me both! Seriously it was my MOM'S fault. I couldn't stand my classmates and wanted nothing to do with them - my mom told me to loosen up and have a little fun for a change, it was just a harmless senior prank! We still laugh about that, btw. Thanks MOM.

Haha, yeah, you caught us! The flag pole is a joke! And that prank: sounds amazingg! I'm trying to think of a good one for my school, but I don't think it's going to happen! hahaha

I would *love* to have seen the look on any of their faces. Priceless.
