Tony Blair has finally resigned

edited November -1 in General Discussion
Tony Blair's been in power for over 10 years now, and he's done some really good things in that time, honestly. But he's had some major fuck ups too (namely the Iraq war and possibly bribing Labour Lords....). According to his speech today, he "honestly believed" that he was doing the right thing. I feel kinda sorry for him, poor deluded fool that he is...

Anyway, he's finally stepping down and Gordon Brown's taking over, which means a total change to the cabinet, and, with any luck, the way things are run. Woooo!!!

Any thoughts on the total change to the British Prime Minister?

its been a long time comeing, a very long time. since the whole story broke, he should have said this date from day one really..

im hopeing brown taking over will be a step in the right direction, as he has been waiting for this for like..well 10 years really

think there will be an election soon after brown comes in alie?

or do you hope he waits till past november so you can actully vote..

Nah, there won't be an election til the term's up. There'd be no point in having an election now, the Conservatives would win by a mile. They'll wait til Brown's done something really good before they have an election. And the next one isn't due for another two or three years...

Every 4 or 5 years, usually. It's not a set date, the part in charge choses when to hold the election within their 5 year term. So I'll be able to vote in the next one!! YAY!

quite the while ago when his tony'ness said he would be leaving this year, all the suits and such were saying that who ever came in would hold and election soon after to get in on there own merits

i doubt they would do it also..

i am looking forward to vote for my 2nd time in the next few years

That seems like a silly way to run things.

"Okay, kids! Next Thursday is VOTING DAY. Just so y'all know. So don't forget to VOTE. OKAY? We would have told you earlier what day we picked, but we were too busy fighting over the jammy dodgers."

PS: Who saw Blair congratulating Sarkozy in French? HAHAHAAHAHAHA.

It's not that bad a system... I mean, they publicize it and make sure everyone knows way in advance. And the idea is to get the greatest number of people turning up - if nothing had really happened recently, or someone had made a major cock up, it'd put people off voting.

Hahaha yeah I saw that. He's such a twat tongue.gif
  • Yeah, it's not like having a set election date has helped with voter turnout in the U.S.

I know nothing about Gordon Brown and very little about Blair besides his support of Bush, but I hope Brown works out for you all.
