Don't know if anyone's heard about this yet. If so, oh well.
This has got me so excited.

Rock Band Announced for PS2, Europe; Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails Included
by Chris Remo Aug 22, 2007 3:46am CST
European gamers can rest assured that they too will be able to play Harmonix Music Systems' fittingly named rock band simulator Rock Band--but they'll have to wait until next year. Harmonix, owner MTV Games, and publisher Electronic Arts today announced the game will hit PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and newly-announced target system PlayStation 2 in Europe in "early 2008."
The announcement reiterated the official holiday 2007 date for PS3 and Xbox 360 in North America; no mention of the PS2 version was made for the region. Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos has stated outright that Rock Band will arrive on Wii as well, though no official announcement has been made.
European releases will feature additional included and downloadable content specific to their local territories. No such tracks were specifically named.
New master recordings to be included in the retail release--presumably worldwide, though applicable regions were not named--were also announced:
- Radiohead, "Creep"
- The Clash, "Should I Stay or Should I Go"
- Rolling Stones, "Gimme Shelter"
- Beastie Boys, "Sabotage"
- Nine Inch Nails, "The Hand That Feeds"
- Faith No More, "Epic"
- Smashing Pumpkins, "Cherub Rock"
- Deep Purple, "Highway Star"
- Jet, "Are You Gonna Be My Girl"
- OK Go, "Here It Goes Again"

"Rock Band allows gamers to perform music from the world’s biggest rock artists with their friends as a virtual band using drum, bass/lead guitar and microphone peripherals, in addition to offering deep online connectivity. Built on deals with the world’s biggest record labels and music publishers, the music featured in Rock Band spans all genres of rock and include many of the master recordings from the biggest songs and artists of all time."
Here's a video of someone actually playing the game and playing HIGA!!

And that video is downloadable
(Which I took full advantage of )
(Which I took full advantage of )
So did I.
Isn't that missing something?
Like..."Bwahahahaha! *evil cackle*" or something?
And I just have one thing to say about this:
Awesome.
Like..."Bwahahahaha! *evil cackle*" or something?
My mistake.
"Soon they will be everywhere. BWAHAHAHAHAHA".
I had a little chat with Jerry Holkins, the writer for www.penny-arcade.com (the webcomic for which this convention is held), and he told me he played HIGA on the game before this con. He said he loved the song - he'd never heard it before but the upbeat nature of it was so great, and "the lyrics weren't stupid, they actually had some good turns of phrase". So I told him all about Damian being an Art-semiotics major from Brown (and about me running the UFC), and he asked me if all their music was fun, upbeat and intelligent. I practically jumped out of my skin and told him yes yes! So he thinks I'm a crazy fan-girl, and he's right, but if anyone understands fandom, it's Jerry. Nevertheless, upon my assurance that OK Go is fun, upbeat, and intelligent music, he said that as soon as this all dies down and he goes back to reality on Monday, he's going to go buy their CDs on iTunes!
YAY!
I can't wait until it comes out on PS2.

And here's a blog article about it! The blond guy in the picture (second from the right) actually was a rep from the game company, and he played with me and the two guys I was with.
