Ting Tings

edited November -1 in General Discussion
Has anyone else listened to them? I heard them for the first time at the OK Go Concert in Grand Rapids this year. Tim played them on the speakers before the show. The song was so catchy and it stuck in my head. It was That's Not My Name. I really like most of their songs. If you haven't heard them you should definately check them out. It might not be your type of music. It all depends on who you are. But some of you might find that you really like them too smile.gif

  • Yes, we wub.gif The Ting Tings. They're playing Philly on 7/23 - at my new fave venue, nonetheless - and we will be there!

Lucky! The closest thing their playing at for me is at Lollapalooza in Chicago. But it's like $80 for one day and there isn't really any other bands that I want to see that bad. And $80 is a bit much just to go for one band.
  • I love Ting Tings...or maybe i think its the name........im going to see them on the 27th at Mccarren pool
  • NPR is streaming their show tonight. Supposed to start in about 45 min.

  • Awesome! I'm listening right now tongue.gif
  • I LOVE this band.
I just discovered them from the vma's and I am in love with every single one of their songs, even tho I thought "fruit machine" was about fruit until I realized it's British for slot machine.
  • bought their album last week and I love it, you guys should also listen to the daytrotter sessions they did, I really really like the traffic light version wub.gif

What's that? And where can that be found?

And they're on Craig Ferguson tonight!!!
I was bummed that it only showed them for a few seconds on the VMAs

Here's a link for their session page: http://daytrotter.com/article/1274/the-ting-tings
  • Oh Yay! Thank you!
  • I actually love their music, but when I saw the VMA's clip of them I was kind of disapointed...she just can't sing some parts of "that's not my name"...but still, the musics are contagious wink.gif

yeah, I don't think she sings some songs the best live. And she doesn't have very good breathing techniques. You can hear her gasping and taking deep breathes like after ever 3 words. But yeah, I love the music.
  • So, I've seen them last Friday and I must say I'm quite disappointed... Its not so much their show, its just... well, the venue was not good, they needed AGES to set up the stage after the support and then they kinda played their songs without further ado, I must say, her singing is quite good to be honest, and he? well, he's really really really good wink.gif The crowd was horrible, too many people so much younger than me, and well, Im used to gigs where the band and the crowd are more on one level, this was more like, I dunno, some Pop concert... She stood at the edge of the stage and the girl next to me started to make long arms to reach her and screamed SO loud "Oh my god, Oh my god, she's standing right here, Oh my god!" ... really? necessary?? So its not the band that was disappointing, ...just everything else tongue.gif Oh, and another thing? The gig ended at 10... 10!!! I mean, last night the Cold War Kids STARTED at 10! 10 is even too early to go to another club, as they open at 11.. biggrin.gif
I guess as soon as the hype is over the shows will be better, its usually that way smile.gif
  • aw, I just found out that they're going to have a concert 2 and a half hours away from me at the beginning of December. I really want to go, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to. I hope I will, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high.

If I do get to go, I hope that show won't be as bad as yours sad.gif

What time did the show start? I remember the Locksley concert I went to ended a little before 10 and it started at like 7. And that was with Hymns opening too. But Locksley only has one CD out, so there's only so long that they can play. And the Ting Tings don't have too many songs yet either
  • I think they started at 8 ... with the support, and they had at least 30 mins for setting the stage up, so I guess they played 45 minutes or so...

Let me check the setlist, ... 10 songs, so yes, no longer than 45 mins if you count everything together... I think thats ok, they only have one album, but ... they didnt play a coversong and apart from the songs themselves it wasnt as entertaining as I hoped, not much talking between songs and such...

Dont get me wrong, the show wasnt that bad, it was mostly the people there that annoyed me tongue.gif

But it wont be the very very best show you've been to either tongue.gif But who knows, maybe they're totally different when they're playing in December.

  • awww, I can't go sad.gif
Mostly cuz I only really had one way of getting there, since I'm a freshman and don't have a car with me at college yet. So, the one ride that I had couldn't take me. And I didn't buy tickets yet, because they're $20 so I didn't want to buy them before I knew if I could go or not, and I checked today and it was sold out by now anyway, and that's when he found out that he couldn't take me
