How has this not been mentioned yet? Or has it, and I've missed it.
(oh, and as an aside, can I gripe about no Vancouver show again.)
from here....
The foursome are just coming off a 10-day shoot for White Knuckles, a groovy, Prince-like number, near Portland, Oregon. “We worked with a bunch of talented movement partners,” Nordwind laughs. “Other than that, I can’t really tell you very much.”
Hmm ... could it be The Muppets? After all, OK Go recently posted a new (and music-less) video featuring drummer Dan Konopka in a starring contest with Animal, and the band recently recorded a reworking of The Muppet Show theme.

:D
"Editor’s note: The Entertainer was on site for the filming of the new video. We promised the band that we’ll help keep the details secret until the video is released in mid-September. At that time, look for a full article about the project, interview with band and crew members and the local people that helped make the video possible. -- Thanks, Nancy Raskauskas, The Entertainer"
I saw we find this Nancy Raskauskas. Oh hi, tiny font.
Mid-September?
They really like making us wait for things, don't they?
Random quote boxes strike again! And I also hate that we have to wait that long. *sigh*
My guess that is since they're doing something with 3D graphics, they're working with people like those at Panoplay Studios (which does 3D animation) or someones from NaturalPoint (motion capture). And there are scads of film and video production companies in the area (ok, maybe not "scads"), not to mention OSU's multitude of innovative new media, engineering and computer science programs. Then again, could be Muppets. Everbody likes Muppets.
Maybe we must wait because it's another volunteer situation, as things tend to take longer when done on peoples' own time.
Yes, and it's torture.
September seems far, far away.
Interesting thought, Christel. It would explain the 3D glasses photo. Where did that picture come from anyway?
EDIT: I did multiple quotes!!! *jumping up and down* (Thanks Becky!)
But there's got to be an easier way. That was way too complicated!
The 3D photo is on the USB, and it has the caption "the guys check out YouTube 3D." It's from their visit to the YouTube offices. Edit: Therefore, we know it's from way before the video started shooting.
This is a bit of an impetus for an interesting discussion. How does everyone feel about the content from the USB getting put up on the net like this? I saw a link to a tumblr site earlier today that had the greetings video from the USB up. I mean, I have a hard enough time loaning people their CDs rather than buying them copies. It's harder now that the guys are their own label. If the USBs from the spring tour are supposed to contain "exclusive content," well, it's not so exclusive anymore, is it? Why would anyone bother to buy them if the content is just going to be slapped online like this? Granted, I bought, and would've anyway, but it just upsets me. These guys have bills to pay too.
I know, I know, a million people have to hear the album before a million people can buy the album. It just infuriates me. They're not stealing from the label anymore, now they're stealing directly from the band.
And I know this is completely the wrong thread for this conversation, but the discussion of the 3D glasses photo reminded me. AND (my 4th time editing this post) I just went over to that tumblr and saw even more photos directly posted from the USB.
Normally, I would have extensive opinions on this. However, my brain is not working to its full capacity lately… and I haven't gotten my USB yet.
I saw the original Tumblr post (and yeah, I reblogged it at some point in my morning, not for the video, but so I could note that I always say "Whatforth" when I catch myself summing up with So forth and/or whatnot. Actually, I usually say "Whatforth and so NOT!" but sometimes it's just "Whatforth."). I am removing it… but that doesn't eliminate the issue. Reading your post, I thought, perhaps they're (the people who posted it) unaware of its exclusivity, but if that were the case, why didn't they post all the concert clips or other content? I didn't realize the photos were from there. I should have checked--like I said I'm half-witted lately. I apologize for the Motivational Poster.
This is why I'm a fanatic about trying to properly attribute things (ok, that's not entirely true…I went to journalism school, and I've had intellectual property stolen, so it's ingrained in a way and also personal). That's why there are disclaimers, irreverent as they may be, in my articles and ending my blogs. That's also why there is the Creative Commons Non-Commercial Copyright Notice and its Licenses. I also, whenever I can, link to a page or a piece of merch if I talk about it, the band that makes it or even just mention a song or artist (that's the reason there was random reference to OKGo in a blog about Brian Setzer, it's not because I'm tag happy!) just because I'd do that anyway ("natural, irrepressible PR" is what one friend calls me).
Maybe I wouldn't worry about the USB fan message being posted if they had done it like this:
(the video clip, maybe up to Damian's "Oh hello." Editing for length is easy. Of course, then we run into problems with the legality/morality of cutting it, so maybe just a screen cap of the guys at the piano)
With a caption reading: We just got the OKGo Spring Tour USB! Get yours now and see the rest of the video, plus 2 concerts and lots of cool OKGo stuff.
And then a disclaimer: All image/video content is the property of Paracadute.
All this is easily solved another way too, just ask. ;)
Of course, I was so out of it earlier, that I didn't worry at all. I didn't even think "This is something not already on YouTube or Flickr, it's exclusive maybe I need to ask/attribute" and I haven't been back there today, so I didn't see anything else yet.
And now, I'm worrying… Thank you, Rachel (and I don't mean that sarcastically. Really, thanks.).
Edit: All removed (except motivational poster here because I can't). I also sent a friendly suggestion to that Tumblr. I hope they take it how I intended it. :\
I have audio to share with you!

BLAM, SPLAT, ART ATTACK!
Was that not up earlier? I missed it if it was, so thanks Jade! Does Damian has marble mouth? (I know it's the theater, and he's tired, but it reminded me of a cross between my old rock and roll history courses and my first year of audio production),
Whoa. I should've had my headphones on for the sudden applause! And the response to the Eugene comment (Ahem...).
EDIT: Note: This audio contains occasional examples of Damian's mouth. Parental discretion advised.
Yeah, I got a nice little note from Anna, who co-manages that blog, this morning. Apparently, despite my best efforts, my note to them still came off as a complaint. I was really careful to go for a ""Yay! Paracadute!" vibe instead of a "Bad Blog! No Pamplemousse!" tone, but she was still worried that I was upset and the disclaimer still calls my suggestion a complaint… I am not yet the clear communicator I wish to be, I guess.
But the result is positive. So far, anyway.
Yay! Paracadute! Here, have a grapefruit!
