This event will benefit the Dear Jack Foundation, a charity for Young Adult Leukemia and Lymphoma patients. This is near and dear to my heart because my friend just lost her husband to Leukemia. They are both 26 years old.
Here's the write up:

Analog Playset: DJF Fundraiser
Custom Toy Show and Auction Benefitting the Dear Jack Foundation. A special acoustic performance by Andrew McMahon. Over 25 toys designed by artists and musicians. Hosted by Tony Thaxton of Motion City Soundtrack.
7pm at the Atticus Clothing Store
7664 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90064

Why does this apply to OK Go? Because Dan designed a robot, people. I heard from a rather knowlegable source that it's adorable. They won't be there, obviously, because they will still be in Brazil. But you could have Dan's robot. Dan's LIFE SAVING ROBOT.
Also, I just saw Something Corporate at the 9:30 Club a few weeks ago and Andrew McMahon is one hell of a performer.

Hey, Rachel, I'm just now seeing this - not sure how I missed it. I'm not an LA boardie, or even close. I'm so sorry to you and to your friend for the terrible loss! Twenty six - it's just not fair. Damn cancer.
Jazzed about the robot auction - what a cool idea! And of course OK Go is amazing, being involved in things like this. I wonder if a pic of Dan's robot will ever surface.
Thanks, Raina. :-) It's been a hard 3 months, but we are pushing on. Actually, I've got the full story on my blog if you want to know more. http://www.rachelschain.com/blog
Anyway, it looks like the auction will be pushed to Ebay too. I don't know for a fact, but I have good reason to think it will. I'll definitely post a link to Dan's robot if that happens. If not, well, I've been promised a picture of Dan's robot. :-)
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.
Excited to hear that the auction may go to Ebay and that you can reasonably expect a pic! :) Trying to imagine what Dan could possibly have put together.
First of all, 23. VERY appropos.
Secondly, the auction is now ONLINE! http://shop.ebay.com/analogpla.....mp;_ipg=25

I just bid on it a bunch of times. I think someone's got a rather high bid on it on ebay because everytime I bid someone outbid me. But hey, at least I made them spend more money. Pete Wentz's robot is only at $26, and now thanks to me, Dan's is up to $48. :-D
