Danimal!!!

edited November -1 in OK Go
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: if it were "John, Paul, George and Dan" I can only imagine where rock'n'roll would be today. OTBCOTS was (IMHO) a breakthrough work for OK Go because it was constructed from the rhythm up. Tim & Dan anchor "Needing/Getting" so well as a team. And I love the 7/4 drift into Brian Wilson territory in the back half of the track. (listen to Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" for the linkage...they join bands like Tears For Fears and other in exploring those nether-regions of off-rhythm). Sheer genius. Danimaaaaaaaaaaaaaal!

Ugh. More math. Hmmm...6 + 3. Any clues from the audience? Laugh

  • Totally agreed on all counts.  I had a chat with Dan about the triplets in All Is Not Lost.  There's one that's missing and I think it's kind of awesome in its absence.  He was telling me about how Dave Fridmann actually told him that the take was perfect, even though it was missing a few fills.  Good times.

HOWEVER, just a bit of a heads up on how we do things here.  We try to keep our conversations organized by thread so we can go back and find posts easier later (mainly because the search function has always been crap, but also so that things don't get double and triple posted).  Seeing as we've been here a long time, we already have a Dan thread (/community/message-board/ok-go/you-rock-dan/page-32/), and it would have been on the first page when you posted your new thread.  So next time please check to see if there's already a thread for the topic before you post, okay?  Thanks!

And that, good friends, is a 23.  Math WIN. :-D

Consider my nose smacked with a rolled-up newspaper! I'll strive to be a better community member (slinking off to sit in "corner of shame" for 20 minutes). I'm still working my way through the topics...so much to get caught up on...so little time!
  • Really, we tell everyone the same thing at some point or another.  Don't worry too long on it. Communities need Newbies to keep going!  :-D
