US drug firms on Moore alert
Associated Press
Los Angeles, December 27

Some pharmaceutical companies in the United States are telling their employees to look out for the scruffy guy in the baseball cap. The Houston Chronicle reported on Saturday that six drug companies have released internal communications telling employees to be wary of filmmaker Michael Moore.

Moore’s targets have included General Motors (Roger & Me), the gun lobby (the Oscar-winning Bowling for Columbine) and President George W Bush (Fahrenheit 9/11).

Moore, normally seen sporting a beard and a ball cap, has now set his sights on the health care industry, including insurance companies, HMOs, the Food and Drug Administration and drug companies.

“We ran a story in our online newspaper saying Moore is embarking on a documentary and if you see a scruffy guy in a baseball cap, you’ll know who it is,” said Stephen Lederer, a spokesman for Pfizer Global Research and Development.

In September and October, Wyeth, AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline, the second largest in retail sales, sent out Moore alerts, instructing employees that questions posed by the media or filmmakers should be handled by corporate communications.

Heavyweights Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals and Synthelabo sent similar memos before their recent merger.

Comments

  • Bleh. His intentions are good, but simply put, he's a liar.
  • The thing that struck me while watching "Farenheit 911" was how Michael Moore probably could've made an intersting and informative expose of the Bush administration by just sticking to the facts and instead resorted to ludicrous conspiracy theories that more likely than not make little or no sense to anyone but him.
  • Michael Moore is not out there to to give people both sides of the arguement, his ideas is to give you his side of the story. If you choose to believe every word he says and dont look into the otherside of the story then thats your own fault. He doesn't 'lie' he puts his slant on what he believes is the truth. Same as every person in the world he has an opinion on everything, just so happens he is very effective at getting it across and i give him a thumbs up. Guns are bad and george dubble-ya is a menace on the world.

But hey, thats just my opinion. Im just glad to not be american
