    wow.

you never expected it to happen, but...

    wow.

and I wouldn't feel too bad, God, I bet at least two hundred other people made fun of him yesterady, too.
  • I'm sure many people did but it's just crazy that he's dead. He was so young.

I mean, sure, this sort of thing is bound to happen when you take the risks that he does but holy shit I've been swimming in the area he died, it could have happened to anyone.

I'm glad it was instantaneous. When I first heard he was dead I was sure he'd been mauled by a crocodile but geeze. His poor family.

His Zoo is only a few hours north of where I live and that entire area makes most of its money off of that attraction and now he's dead. It makes you wonder what will happen to his two children and his wife. His daughter only just started doing shows at the Zoo.

    Update:

A source said Mr Irwin was already dead when his body was brought onto the Isle.

A source said Mr Irwin's body was being airlifted to Cairns Hospital in North Queensland for formal identification.

An Emergency Services Response Management spokeswoman said they received a call about the tragedy at 11.11 am, Australian Eastern Standard Time.

The response unit left in a helicopter for the Batt Reef at 11.18am and arrived shortly after.

Mr Irwin was pronounced dead at the scene immediately, the spokeswoman said.
  • Poor Terri. I seriously have like three of his videos.
  • ohmy.gif Noooooooo! Oh that makes me want to cry sad.gif
  • I couldn't believe it when I heard the news. You know, you never expect those people-who-do-really-dangerous-things-on-TV-for-a-living to die doing it. It's so tragic, I mean I wasn't a fan of the guy, but to die like that? And the fact that he has a wife and two very young kids, it's so sad. sad.gif
  • i was gonna make a topic on this when somone at work told me about it

gutted for his wife and kids
  • They did live together. They were a great couple, but when he was doing work they didn't always do it together. She had her own stuff as well sad.gif
  • Whats even more shocking to me is the fact that it was a STINGRAY. How freak-accidenty is that? People swim with those things ALL the time. I mean what are the chances of its barb somehow puncturing straight into your heart. Anyone see him in Dr Dolittle 2? Hah. That was awesome. I think we should be celebrating his great acheivements. He's done some incredible things and I think he was opening the eyes of the world about animals and conservation and I dunno, just yeah. I hope his family can still carry on doing what they love.

Oh I know, right. I've been so angry listening to people saying stuff like "THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR PLAYING WITH DANGEROUS ANIMALS" but fucking hell, Stingrays just DON'T kill people. According to the local news Steve is the THIRD person in history to die the way he did. Nobody could have predicted what would happen.

I'm wondering if they're going to take all Steves ads off Australian TV. He did a big campaign with the Government about quarantine issues and it would be a shame if they stopped showing them just because he's dead. He did a great job in raising public awareness in this country.

I may have found his outrageous stereotype of Australians irritating but he was a great man and he did some brilliant things. One of his last achievements was convincing governments here to not allow crocodile hunting. They were seriously considering allowing foreigners to come to Australia and hunt our crocodiles for trophies and he helped talk them out of it.

    <3<3<3 Steve Irwin.
  • WHAT? WHAT?

Some part of this to me screams hoax. Maybe I'm just in denial.
  • You're in denial sad.gif I have been for most of the day. I still haven't come to terms with it, which makes you wonder how his family are dealing with it if most people who DON'T knwo the guy can't comprehend that he's gone.

I'm simultaniously amused/horrified by all the images coming up about this (esp. on indiefucks). Part of me thinks they're brilliant and the other part thinks that it's completely rude. If Steve had been a member of my family, I would be completely hurt by the fact that all these people were making fun of his death.

So, RIP Steve. You made us happy and my prayers are with your family.

Yeah. Since I've heard this I've been looking up everything I could. Fucking Steve Irwin, YOU ALWAYS BRING THE ANTI-POISON SERUMS WITH YOU JERK.

OK. Not to be rude here, but I'm just a tiny bit annoyed by the. The man was stabbed through the heart. Anti-poison serums don't work when you die instantaneously. It's not like he was stabbed in the foot or anything - which happens all the time and people survive from. He was stabbed in the torso, he had absolutely no chance of survival. Only 3 people in the whole of Australia have died the way he did and only 17 people in the entire world have.

My apologies. I'm tired and rather rude when tired. I completely forgot about the "through the heart" part. That's part of the reason I originally thought it was ahoax. It seemed too much of a fluke to be real.

No it's OK, I'm a little defensive at the moment. I've been seeing all this really offensive stuff about his death in the last few hours and yeah it's just escalating to the point where I'm getting really snappy. I could've informed you nicely, so I'm sorry about that too.
