I was at an end-of-school party, and there were some kids from Naz (private school) there. They were of the rich, snobby variety. they were discussing some girl we didn't know, and I overheard them saying, "I think she gets her clothes at wal-mart." like it was a state felony. my friends were like, "dude, wal-mart rocks!" except we didn't actually talk to them because their glares of death would have burned through our bodies.

    yeah. thats all.
  • Walmart is the devil.

I know the feeling. It's funny, I'm not really a consistant buyer. I purposely go to places like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrum's, and Saks in clothes from Wal-Mart or Target and plan on spending a lot of money. If the person is extremely helpful, I know she's being sincere. I bought a pair of Sevens wearing my $17 jeans, go figure.

OMG, San Marcus has the best outlets EVER! Did you know they're making a new outlet mall just like San Marcus in Georetown, not 10 minutes away from me? Yep, just luck I guess.
  • yah they are making a outlet in mercedes, oohh i totally hope they have a puma and levis store.
  • I only hope they have a Lacoste and Polo outlet, I'm addicted...ooo, and Gap, but they always have gap.
  • Okay, really random but all that smacking everyone is talking about, wondering if its them making out? ITS A DOG. The same dog is walking across the hardwood making his nails clack, and his collar is moving and making noise, sounding kind of like a belt buckle unbuckling. He obviously lays down somewhere and is trying to go to sleep and moves around a bit, and he sneezes and moves his tongue around alot and swallows, etc. I know this because i have heard those exact same sounds from my dog. So i highly doubt its a 30 minute recording of them making out.. just saying.. and some random sounds sound like a ping pong ball hitting the floor a couple of times or a nailgun outside of the window or something (not saying thats what it is, just what it sounds like..). in the first couple minutes when the girlfriend says something, she says groans and laughs a little big and says "-- woke up" or something.. the first word is muffled by a pillow or something? oh well.. im sure this is no big conspiracy or anything, just something sentamintal, like the night he proposed or SOMETHING. who knows.. either a) he'll tell us sooner or later
  • Yeah. We kinda know that already.

  • So I was randomly going through old posts.  Found this one.  Read all 7 pages of discussion about Dr. Pepper, Walmart, and other large shopping places.

Now that it's several years later, just wondering incase I missed it, still any clue as to why we're listening to 34 minutes of pillows moving and a dog?

Obviously this topic has been beaten to a pulp and left for dead somewhere in the pages of this board, but just thought maybe anyone knew what was up a couple years later.

Apparently this stirred up a fight a few years ago, so my bad if it does again.  Just a question.

  • I know I'm probably wrong, but I think it was so that the record company couldn't add some other crap to Oh No. 9027 KM filled in the unused time on the CD and voila, all the time is used, nothing else can be put on there. I can't remember if I read it somewhere or if it was in the Nerdist podcast, but it was within the last month. Gah, my short term memory is for shit.

This was also way before my time, so I'm hoping one of the more seasoned Boardies will chime in if I'm wrong or fill in more details that I may have goofed.

  • I had read somewhere that they used up all the space available on the disc to leave no room for the digital rights management program that some record companies were using at the time.
  • Becky and Hannah are correct.
  • OOh thanks homies.  I was glancing through the treads, I thought it was funny at first everyone was thinking it was the sounds of making out.  It's clearly a dog and the noises are definitely fireworks outside (I'm pretty sure).  But yeah, if that was the sounds of making out, that's pretty gross hahaha.
  • I soooo think that it's a dog running around in the kitchen early in the morning because there’s clanking of what kind of sounds like dishes (coffee!), and kitchens generally have hard floors hence the footsteps. The jingle could be from the dog’s collar, and the mumbling might be because the dog is nudging her? The rustling could be wind from an open window.  As for the whole distance of 9027 Km, didn't they have that recording thingamabob for the phone, so they could be talking on the phone from Sweden and LA and because of the time difference, it's during the day for Damian, and really early for the other person.  Maybe she forgot to hang up, and Damian thought it would be funny to record it and see how long it took her to figure out that the phone was off the hook.Laugh

I am just taking a random guess at it, and could be totally wrong about the time zone thing, but I just thought it might be worth posting.

    P.S. Target > Wal-Mart!!!!

  • Are we still discussing this....?

The recording was placed on the CD to fill it up so that Capitol/EMI couldn't put DRM crap on it. I was told by another source that is was (maybe possibly) someone's ladyfriend sleeping, and Sheri figured out that 9207 km is the distance between Malmo and LA.

THAT'S IT. That's all there is to it.

Also, ten and eleven posts up are Karleigh and Denise. MAN this thread is OLD. :(

Yeah, I was wondering why this whole thing was still a big mystery. I got the same story straight from the source (e.g., Damian). It really isn't even that mysterious...

  • I guess it's still a "mystery" because not everyone has been on the board since the beginning and some people are still discovering all this for the first time.

And, Sam, the threads do tend to get off subject sometimes, don't they!!

  • Yeah, the topic has been beaten to death, I'm pretty new to OK Go fandom so it just kept me awake at night wondering like it probably did for everyone else when Oh No first came out.  I guess it shows though that no matter who listens to 9027 Km preview on itunes they will get curious which is good because then they will buy the album in order to listen to it and then be hooked on OK Go forever! MWAHAHAHAHAHA! Laugh
