Are you in a band? Know someone in a band? Or just love listening to new bands? If you think the lovely boardies here would like the music, then let us in. Shamelessly plug that band in this thread here. Discuss new local indie bands or bands that are just up and coming.

Cavil at Rest. They opened up for OK Go at the Pepperdine show back in April 2007. Their music is great and so is their onstage performance. I've seen them once after that and will be seeing them in the next upcoming weeks. They are starting their first Summer Tour with Sirens Sister (who, btw, also opened up for OK Go at the Safari Sam's December 2006 show). They will be touring the West Coast and hopefully the East Coast later on this Summer. If you get a chance, I highly suggest you go see them. Also, they are really nice boys.

-I'm from Barcelona (29-person indie band who are, actually, not from Barcelona. Full of bells and whistles and generally very happy-go-lucky)

-Mucca Pazza (a full indie-poplike marching band)

-Tacks, the Boy Disaster (I love them really for their song "Matilda," which is slow and beautiful)

-Voxtrot (similar-sounding to many other bands, but the lead singer's voice is breathtaking, for lack of a less over-the-top adjective)

I heard of Rock Kills Kid a couple of years ago. I was able to download their first album through their website for free even! I never really got around to listen to it though. Maybe I'll go back and listen to them.
And what a plus: They cover Spoon's "I Turn My Camera On". Wow. I didn't know that. Very different take on it. But it sounds good.
They're my best friend's band, he's trying to persuade the others to play 'No Sign Of Life' coz it's their style. But they don't know OK Go so it doesn't look like it's gonna happen....
And Spiky Toys
They're... weird. It's one guy playing several characters, and he does everything. All the instruments, singing, he's all of the photos and he writes the songs. And writes their fake biographies. They're hilarious.

The omgnoway song is very random. I absolutely hate those advertisements on myspace as well. hilarious that anyone would make a song about it though.
Grand: Pm
I have no connection to this band personally, but I'm totally in love with them. I've seen these Torontonian Beauties twice so far. Extremely Catchy and fun.

They are fun as well. The keyboardist, Ryan, acutally works at a tv station called havoc tv and it airs on cable or direct tv 101 (I've never seen it as I don't have cable).

Whaaaaat. They're playing Lollapolooza?? I would KILL to see them live. It's something about the fact that it seems like they were, "we're making a band, wanna join?" and just let everyone in.
Also, I love Matt and Kim; they're just simple fun. My friend had me listen to them and they've been a part of our dance part mixes ever since.

The thing is, they do review songs, not entire albums, but it's still a great mix.
Whooo! Have fun
Edit: OK this is awesome. I've been checking out the "100 songs we love" and they do have, lo and behold, a bunch of songs I love. Besides the usuals (Of Montreal, Art Brut, Gorillaz, The Kinks, Ghostface Killah, Nick Drake), there are ones I've been meaning to check out but haven't gotten around to (The Bird and the Bee, Fujiya & Miyagi, LCD Soundsystem, the Good, the Bad, and the Queen), BUT they ALSO have "Atlas" by Battles, a song that I couldn't stand the first time I listened to it, but heard it a second time and now I can't get it out of my head. It's amazingly composed and, though the "vocals" can be grating, is AMAZING in terms of showing the perfect band machinery: they work together perfectly.
OK, I'm done fawning, just listen to them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpGp-22t0lU
