Anaheim Show

edited November -1 in OK Go
I just got back from the show. What did everyone think?

I didn't listen to the first band. I didn't care for the redwalls.

OK Go's set was way too short. I didn't get to hear a lot of the songs I wanted to hear.

I didn't stick around for the colour.

I'm just homesick for the midwest. Concerts in southern california are nothing like concerts in the midwest (iowa/nebraska.) I miss the midwest fans and midwest shows. I'm depressed.

Where were all of the nice/normal ok go fans tonight?!

Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore's words?

Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore always use to start the review threads and use made up words in them... example: http://okgo.forumsunlimited.com/index.php?showtopic=292
  • oh yeah...i remember reading those.

i wonder why he doesn't do them anymore.
  • Jeez, how many threads must we have about this show? I think there's like 4 by now lol.

And it's disappointing you didn't stick around for the Colour, or the Gun Shys (were you just not there yet?) I know a lot of people that would have killed to be at that show... amazing lineup.
  • well, it wasn't disappointing for me. i had no desire to stick around. i was there for the gun shys....but i was outside. i could still hear them though.

the redwalls were really unimpressive. my fiance's brother came to the show with us because he wanted to see the redwalls. he is a redwalls fan, and even he wasn't impressed with their set.

oh, and i think there are only 2 topics on the board about this show.

I would have killed to see that line-up. That would have been a very good show indeed. I'd kill to go to the show in Vegas, too.

Jill, I'm sad to hear that you didn't like the Redwalls set! Why didn't you? Logan was pissed because they shut the mic's off during "Deep in the Heart". And I guess he wasn't in the best mood, either.

I still would have killed to see that lineup either way.
  • a couple of their songs were okay. the one guy screamed more than he sang though.

the reason they shut the mics off is because they sang way longer than they were supposed to. there were apparently lots of issues at the show last night. i'm pretty sure it was just egos egos egos.

i told dan i was sad they (ok go) didn't play more songs and he said they'd be playing more at the roxy. i hope that's true.

from what i remember...last night they played....
invincible, don't ask me, get over it, here it goes again, it's a disaster (i think,) you're so damn hot, do what you want, and then they danced to a million ways.

i think that's right. but i have a bad memory.

    ~Jill
  • I have to agree, that would've been a pretty awesome line-up. Not something I would go about passing up. But hey, to each their own.

You started 3 of them tongue.gif lol

I guess I meant that it's sad you didn't even bother sticking around to see the other act.. I would have thought, especially since you didn't like the Redwalls, that you'd stick around to see if the Colour could make up for the crappy set.

Jaded, I think we need to talk to guys into having the same lineup inbetween us somewhere, or hell, I'll drive to Michigan, I've driven a lot further than that for OK Go (Carin, you can fly in again LOL).
  • well, that third one was just me trying to get info on the lineup for the show...which clearly no one responded to.

not that it mattered...the order ended up changing anyway.

chain reaction is the worst venue i've ever gone to.

The thing is...I would. How sad is that? haha.
  • I think no one answered because you asked the same question/said the same thing in each thread.

Carin, you know I'd fly out too.. not like neither of us has done it before laugh.gif
  • The things we do for good music...I swear.

I know how it feels...concerts in New York don't compare to the Midwest either, and it takes some getting used to. People in the Midwest just have nothing going on ever, so they tend to be way more excited to actually be at a concert to begin with, and at least in New York there's the added factor of everyone wanting to look too cool for everything. So many concerts here sell out right away but then come showtime, everyone just kinda stands around with their arms folded. It's a way of life, I suppose.

On a slightly related note, the only concert I've been to in New York in which pretty much everyone seemed totally into it and willing to show it was the Kaiser Chiefs. I think it might be physically impossible to resist the Kaiser Chiefs in concert.

Didn't the Redwalls play too long at some other show on this tour and OK Go had to cut their set way short because of it? Has this been happening consistently?

All this playing too long stuff sounds very catty. I know there was an issue early on about who was headlining, right? Anyone heard anything in the way of backstage gossip as far as this goes?

    It's got to be ego's.

And speaking of being catty...not only are the bands being catty, but so are the fans. Imagine that. Haha.

Heh, yeah, nothing like talking about other bands to get things a little heated.

And speaking of being catty some more...can't you just totally picture the Redwalls & OK Go in a catfight?

That is quite possibly the funniest visual. All the members of OK Go are so tall, and the members of the Redwalls...aren't. Haha.
  • The lead singer of the Redwalls had a black eye at the Kansas City show.. I won't say how he got it.

    As for backstage gossip... cool.gif
